After the White House news conference this morning, Bill Kristol on Fox News praised President Bush's remarks about "immigration reform" as "eloquent." Beg to differ. The president's open-borders statements were empty, garish platitudes strung together sloppily like cheap Christmas lights:
Illegal aliens "do the job Americans won't do." President Bush used that dog-tired phrase about a half-dozen times during today's press conference as he defended his impending illegal alien amnesty plan. Mark Krikorian effectively puts this mindless rhetoric to rest here.
"Family values don't stop at the Rio Grande." Uh huh. Well, terrorists and gang members and drunken murderers and cop-killers don't stop there either. And based on past and recent experience, granting amnesty to 13 million law-breakers will only result in more illegal immigration, not less.
We need immigration reform that "recognizes reality." Rank-and-file immigration enforcement officials give a real reality check on the amnesty debacle here, here, and here.
As immigration enforcement veteran/former U.S. prosecutor Peter Nunez put it:
[W]e need to stop the talk of a coming amnesty, or of a guest worker program, both of which, by themselves, serve to encourage additional illegal immigration. What kind of message are we sending when we dangle that possibility before people desperate enough to put their lives at risk? Doesnt this kind of talk also indicate that we really dont care much about law breaking, that we dont really care that much about the rule of law, that these immigration laws exist only as a token objection to the violation of our sovereignty? Now, that is eloquent.
I agree in principle and disagree in specifics. We need to be talking about a guest worker program. And one of its most important facets is that anyone who has violated our immigration laws is ineligible. Further features should be: employers pay a $1000 per month fee to the government to hire the guest worker. Children born here are not granted citizenship. It is limited to 5 years.
It's babies or immigrants, folks. Take your pick. We cannot arrive at 2025 with two workers per retiree. You can only tax people so much. If we're not going to have euthanisia for Granny, we need people out there working and paying taxes. Right now the fertility of American women is just below the replacement rate. We're not going to avoid a demographic debacle if that keeps up. Just be glad our immigrants are from a basically Christian country, and they don't come here with orders from God to kill us all. But come they will, and the government won't do squat about it. They can't. They can't allow the demographic time bomb to go off; it's too ugly. So rail and rant all you want. Nothing will change. |
Correcto!!!! It is only the Bottomlineo that mattero, not our La república de Estados Unidos.
This is really beyond belief.
These ever growing government is going to bring in the equivalent of TWO MAJOR cities of illegal aliens and new immigrants (many from Muslim countries) into our country EVERY SINGLE YEAR.
Interesting enough Texas, happens to have one of the fastest growing Muslim populations.
Continue to leave this country wide open to *millions* of uneducated, non English speaking, religious fanatics, many without basic skills or basic education.
A real plan for success.
I expect that type of talk from folks who espouse your views. Thing is that nonsense doesn't work on me. Might want to try your "Pro-illegal/Traitorist" crap on someone else. And I really could care less what someone like you thinks about me or how I voted. I put America and Americans first, you on the other hand... Well implyed is implied.
Exactly.
And one of its most important facets is that anyone who has violated our immigration laws is ineligible.
Won't happen. There is simply no way to send 8 million people back to Mexico. It is logistically impossible.
Further features should be: employers pay a $1000 per month fee to the government to hire the guest worker.
It would cost $1000 a month per worker in bureaucracy to monitor such a program.
Children born here are not granted citizenship.
This would require a constitutional amendment, not likely to pass.
It is limited to 5 years.
Bush's is time-limited.
Well of course when you go from 1,000 followers to 2,000, that is a !00% increase.
But what the hey you still conviently forget to say that Texas is probably 95% Christian.
Oh I forgot you Joe have a propaganda campaign to perpetuate, nevermind.
I hope your trenchcoat is lined with asbestos.
I find the demand that all illegal aliens be kicked out of the country to be amusing. There is no political consensus to do that, nor will there be in the foreseeable future. We're not about to cast a dragnet over the entire country and demand everybody produce papers or get kicked out. Nor are we going to fine & jail employers and wrecks the agricultural industry.
The President is trying to address a serious problem seriously, and all we get are unrealistic demands and attacks on the man.
If something like the President's plan isn't adopted, we'll be left with the status quo, which is worse.
Got a spare asbestos trenchcoat?
And just how do you accomplish your three step process? Run ads that say, "Illegals, Get Out!" ???

Rockville, Md. (AP) - An illegal alien who ran a red light and hit a car - killing a five-year-old girl inside - got a ten-year prison sentence Thursday from a Montgomery County judge.
Police say he was speeding at 62 mph in a 35 mph zone when he ran the light in Silver Spring in May of last year. After the crash, investigators say Gomez-Delgado admitted he had drank 19 beers in the previous 24 hours.
Enter our country illegally, showing no respect for American law or our borders, drive drunk, brutally kill a tiny 5 year old little girl, and get ten short years in prison.
Thank you President Bush.
No reason for the asbestos coat.
They are a small but vocal group, although the next flame towards you, maybe in the vein that asbestos is a Mexican curse.
Take the pledge - "I WILL NOT vote Republican in 2008 if they don't stop illegal immigration"
These ever growing government is going to bring in the equivalent of TWO MAJOR cities of illegal aliens and new immigrants (many from Muslim countries) into our country EVERY SINGLE YEAR. And just think, if they keep that up for twenty years, that will barely bring the ratio of workers to retirees to 3 to 1 instead of 2 to 1. It's 4 to 1 now. Do you have a policy that avoids the same kind of Culture of Death at old ages that we have now for "fetuses?" What is that policy? I'd like to hear a solution to this. The idea of gassing old people to get them out of the way sounds kind of corrupting to me. I'll probably be dead myself by then, but I would not want to leave that behind as my mess. I don't think Bush does, either. |
Neither do our national laws.
That's a start - next time you sell your car in the paper or advertise a garage sale, put in the ad "NIA" (No Illegal Aliens).
