I hope your trenchcoat is lined with asbestos.
I find the demand that all illegal aliens be kicked out of the country to be amusing. There is no political consensus to do that, nor will there be in the foreseeable future. We're not about to cast a dragnet over the entire country and demand everybody produce papers or get kicked out. Nor are we going to fine & jail employers and wrecks the agricultural industry.
The President is trying to address a serious problem seriously, and all we get are unrealistic demands and attacks on the man.
If something like the President's plan isn't adopted, we'll be left with the status quo, which is worse.
Got a spare asbestos trenchcoat?
No reason for the asbestos coat.
They are a small but vocal group, although the next flame towards you, maybe in the vein that asbestos is a Mexican curse.
Why not?
Financing this illegal group and breeding them forever is a bottomless money pit.
Unless you are relying on the School fairy, the hospital fairy, the welfare system fairy, the housing fairy...
Rounding them up and deporting them, one at a time, accomplishes two things. reduces the total, and sends the signal to new illegals that we are serious.
If something like the President's plan isn't adopted, we'll be left with the status quo, which is worse.
Why would Bush's immigration policy be followed when none of the previous immigration laws are followed by those that would enter illegally?
Historically, these programs have brought more illegal aliens. Just the introduction of Bush's plan created a spike in illegal alien crossings and apprehensions. If it is implemented it will create a sustained flow of illegals seeking to benefit from the "guest worker program".
Thats the rub. The plan will make the problem worse. Just like it got worse after Simpson Mazolli. Just like it got worse immediately after Bush first proposed his plan.
I cannot believe so many have trouble with such a simple concept - you cannot reward illegal behavior & expect it to not continue. I guess its a matter of coming at this issue with completely different perspective.
But there is "popular consensus" -- you remember -- "WE THE PEOPLE"??
I'd like to know where the "political consensus" is for our so-called "legislators" treating the US Constitution like a roll of Charmin?
Are you to the point where you are "amused" that the laws regarding sovereignty are ignored by those sworn to uphold them? Is it because you find legislators sworn only to their own personal power and agendae?
"The President is trying to address a serious problem seriously, and all we get are unrealistic demands and attacks on the man."
Oh, baloney.
The man has had four years to react accordingly after the worst security breach in US history, and he's STILL dilly-dallying as millions of unaccounted for and unregistered illegals saunter through the border onto a red carpet.
