Trap in chilling net chat (Murdered mom baited in Net chat board)
Herald Sun (Australia) ^ | December 21, 2004

Posted on 12/20/2004 10:57:51 AM PST by Constitutionalist Conservative

A CHILLING exchange on an internet chat board for rat terrier owners shows how a Kansas woman, who allegedly ripped the baby out of a pregnant dog breeder, set up the meeting.

Other exchanges show how board members figured out what must have happened and pointed police to the suspect.

The first message in the tragic chain was posted Wednesday at 4:22pm, by a woman calling herself Darlene Fischer, with the screen name "fischer4kids" -- but who authorities have said was really accused killer Lisa Montgomery.

The note was the bait to trap victim Bobbie Jo Stinnett.

"I was recommended to you by (name withheld by the New York Daily News) and have been unable to reach you by either phone or e-mail," the message read. "Please get in touch with me soon as we are considering the purchase of one of your puppies and would like to ask a few questions."

Ms Stinnett replied with a cheerful message at 7.44pm: "Darlene, I've e-mailed you with the directions so we can meet. I do so hope that the e-mail reaches you. Great chatting with you on messenger. And do look forward to chatting with you tomorrow am.

"Thanks (name withheld), and talk to you soon, Darlene! Have a great evening. Bobbie."

Montgomery had been on the chat board often, using her own name, posting photos of her rat terrier puppies and seeking mates for her breeding projects.

Early Friday morning, as news reports aired on the horrific baby snatching, regulars on the Ratter Chatter site realised the victim was one of their own. And they realised "Darlene" would have met Bobbie Jo on the day she was killed, and that the woman had arranged the deadly meeting through their chat board.

They recalled both Ms Stinnett and Montgomery discussed their pregnancies on the chat site. Montgomery, who was not pregnant, claimed she was due in days.

"Darlene Fischer was supposed to meet her on (Thursday)," wrote one poster.

One chatter figured out the internet address for Ms Fischer traced back to Kansas -- where the baby was eventually recovered at Montgomery's home.

By 8am, several members had called the police with the information they had gathered.

Police said the tips and a sighting of the suspect's car led them to Montgomery.

By the time it was over, the pain was palpable in the messages. "We just saw a murder plan in front of us and it makes me so sad," wrote one poster.

One woman wrote she'd just been told by the suspect that she was due to give birth the day Ms Stinnett was killed.

"Now I'm just sick as heck," the woman wrote.

We have a deeply divided Republican party. The moderates have the power at the time and they vote with the libs. Us conservatives get pooped on all the time here. We are being heard more. The idiot governor vetoed concealed carry even though the overwhelming majority of calls to her office wanted the bill signed in to law.

The sad part of all of this is I think she will win reelection because none of the conservatives want to take her on in the next election. Sigh.......it's lonely here!

I did some reading on Ratter Chatter

I've never read the Rat Terrier boards, but I've been active in the Jack Russell boards and there's been discussion of this. The Jack community has always considered the Ratters to be kindred spirits.

Thank you, Ratter Chatters, for putting it all together and calling the police. It's because of YOU that the baby was rescued alive and well.

It's times like this that makes it hard to swallow some of our own principles. It's probably not the best time to remind people but Jesus taught that even this woman can have salvation.

"Forgive them, for they know not what they do."

I plead that God has mercy on her soul.

Yes. Crossing the state lines makes it Federal. If the prosecutor were smart AND diligent he/she should have charges at the state level for murder and the Feds pick up the kidnapping charges. Having done that, they should have the sentences stacked where after she's done with the state (where for any know AWFUL liberal reasons she might evade the full time), she would be hit with the Federal time. And in doing Federal time, there's no parole...It's do-it-all-time....

I believe the actual murder and kidnapping took place in MO which is generous in it's use of the death penalty as opposed to KS where the child was found.

She killed and then kidnapped across state lines. This is a federal case now and we use the death penalty.

The damage to the child is bad. the child will not be able to celebrate her birthday. she will have to be told as everyone around her with be whispering and pointing for her entire life.

She will have her birthday on her birthday. No one will be whispering and pointing at her her entire. Life. Sheesh, where do you live?

Tell, look at petitefour's #37 post. She had a reply from a really strange one-time poster last July.

Thanks for telling that, petifour.

It also shows that she clearly knew that what she was doing was wrong and illegal. That hurts the insanity case she's almost certain to try.

It was odd. And that's an understatement.

And doesn't crossing state lines mean she may have committed a federal crime as well?

Yes, that is why the FBI was involved.

Isn't kidnapping/murder a federal crime when state lines are crossed?

I am waiting for the husband of the murderer to be charged too. I am really surprised more questions haven't been asked of the husband since it is so strange in that way. And he claimed to have felt the baby kick in her stomach? Yet he didn't find it strange that he met his wife at a fast food restaurant shortly after birth and that she wasn't required to rest after giving birth like that. I feel her husband is involved in this in some way.

I propose hanging using rope offered by the lowest bidder.
It may take a few times to get it right ...

A psychopath came in among them, expressing a interest in Rat Terriers, and who would ever suspected the truth at first?

This should serve as a warning to all of us. People start to feel close to people in groups online and let their guard down. Be careful, people. If this woman had insisted that she will only see this woman with her husband present, this tragedy would not have happened.

What you do is to tell your children the truth. MOST people are inherently good and would never hurt you. But the FEW evil ones PRETEND to be one of the GOOD ones and you can never be sure which is which, so keep safe and keep your guard up.
