Revolt of the Vietnam Veteran's

Post mortems in the liberal press on the role that Vietnam veterans played in presidential candidate John Kerry's defeat mask the key role of the liberal press, which tried to suppress the vets' story and is distorting it now. I was there at the creation of a veterans group and all along, and know better. The American people deserve to know better too.
In 1971 I organized Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace. John O'Neill enlisted to counter the smears of American servicemen in Vietnam. No one else spoke up for us, so we had to. The mainstream press was more diverse than today and we got a spotty but honest hearing.
Kerry's light dimmed then. Americans got the message that a motley crew of exaggerators and frauds didn't speak for Vietnam veterans. We said our piece and went home, back to our diverse, nonpolitical lives.

My apologies.

I like that. Nice catch.
I'd been waiting for the Kerry/McGovernites to get their just rewards for thirty years. Well, they didn't really get what I had wanted, but this will do for now.
Interesting Times did yeoman's duty on this. Excellent!

And the SwiftVets are not going away!
Anti-Kerry group meets to decide on future role (SWIFTVETS)

The end of the 2004 presidential election campaign doesn't spell the end of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, the well-funded alliance of former servicemen that remains dedicated to preventing John Kerry from becoming president.
The group, which recently changed its name to Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth, plans to convene next month to celebrate its successes and to consider speaking out further about Kerry's military service, his anti-war activities afterward, and other issues, says William Franke, who ran the organization's day-to-day operations.

Twas Vietnam Vets, the people who love them, and Baby Boomers who 'remember' exactly what John Kerry did to try to destroy them = Bush win.
Old men like Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, and Peter Jennings were there in 1971. Re-writing history to win elections won't work...get a clue, dimwits.
Then, instead of simply acknowledging the dims had a skanky candidate, they manufactured a slimy exit poll stating moral values won the election.
If you count 'not voting for a lying maggot like John Kerry' a moral value, turning your backs on the equally skanky MSM [the lies were transparent]... then...I'm happy to stand beside everyone who voted 'against' the drip.

Good post, excellent summary. Lefties are still in total denial about the Swift Boat Vets, and continue to believe the NY Times party line.
Proud contributor here.

"The liberal media portrayed anti-Kerry Vietnam veterans as a long-planned, far-right funded conspiracy of liars. That's far, far from the truth. The real story is like the Minutemen, rising from peaceful lives to spontaneously come together to again fight for the America we so deeply love.
There was little or no coordination, just mutual support, with each volunteer shooting from behind his own tree in the same direction. We came to know each other on the field of our revolt against the false image created by Kerry of himself in the media and the false image Kerry was instrumental in painting of us and America. "
(from Union Trib. article)
Many of us who fought in Nam and were dumbfounded to get back and see how our honorable service and victories were
muddied back here at home were just waiting for the opportunity to bring the truth out about the traitor, Kerry. The Tet offensive happened before I went over. I thought it was a big loss because of the press here. It turns out we wiped out the Vietcong and badly hurt the ability of the North to attack. Had we followed up, moved into the Ho Chi Minh trail areas in force, mined North VN harbors and kept supplies from coming in from China, we would now have a democracy in Vietnam. But it was the crybabies about our losses that kept us from this victory as they are trying to keep us from victory in the War on Terror (WWIII)
I can tell you that if we listen to the cowards and traitors, we will not have a country left this time. I was a Navy Officer supporting the Marines on the gunline and not a Swift Boat officer, but I have been angry ever since Kerry went in front of the Senate and told a bunch of lies that his meeting with our enemies in Paris fed him.
He was and probably still is a communist operative. Hanoi Jane sponsored VVA (his group) and his testimony. An investigation should be launched on Sen. Ted Kennedy to see if he has links to our enemies as well. He sure acts like he is an enemy of the United States.
As long as we have a breath in our bodies, real Nam combat vets will never allow the traitors and liars to come to power. We must immediately move to impeach Kerry from the Senate. He gave aid and comfort to our enemies, a direct violation of the Constitution and disqualifying under Article III Sec 3.

Its not just the Swifties. Most of us who served in combat in Nam will protect the U.S.A. from traitors and commies until we die.
I have kids who I have told about the treason, who will continue the fight after I am gone.

PRAISE GOD FOR THAT! CONGRATS AND THANKS TONS.
Thankfully, God is going to wrap evil up in used toilet paper and flush it down HIS galactic toilet--and in our era.
The mess between now and then, however, will be very INTERESTING.

If Kerry hadn't been given such a TOTAL PASS from the media on his A) questionable aspects of his medals, B) discharge status ,C) anti-war activities, D) negotiations with N. VietNam while still on inactive duty E) his role in the coverup and shredding of documents relating to reports and sightings of POW's still in VietNam in his effort to push through normalization of relations F) his Senate voting record.......the Bush victory would have been a complete landslide.
As it is 3 million was enough and due in no small measure to those brave ones who served before and rose to serve the country again. I hope they remain vigilant. We may indeed need them again someday.
Prairie --and thankyou for your service

The true post mortem of Kerry's defeat is simply the last hurrah of simple patriots, amateurishly but fervently rising up and banding together, with few resources, to defeat the mainstream media's boy and juggernaut. Polls and the election show we succeeded.
