Two county deputies shot, along with suspect (Two ARIZONA COPS shot by ILLEGAL ALIEN!!!)
East Valley Tribune ^ | 12/17/2004 | Kim Smith and Kristina Davis

Posted on 12/18/2004 6:45:29 PM PST by nanak

Two Maricopa County sheriff's deputies were shot Thursday during the serving of a search warrant in east Mesa. A suspect was shot by a third deputy.

Deputy Sean Pearce, who is the son of Rep. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa, was shot in the abdomen. He was flown to Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, where he underwent surgery to remove part of his large intestine. Deputy Lew Argetsinger was shot in the hand and taken by ambulance to the medical center. Both were stable.

The suspect, Jorge Luis Guerra Vargas, 22, was flown to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix with nonlife-threatening facial injuries.

According to authorities, detectives with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office wanted to execute a search warrant at the mobile home of a homicide’s investigative lead, but asked Maricopa County SWAT team members to enter first to ensure their safety.

Lt. Dave Trombi said seven members of the team knocked on the door at 111 S. 91st Way at 6:35 a.m., announced their presence in English and Spanish, then broke through the door. They were a short distance inside when a subject opened fire.

Both deputies shot were wearing ballistic body armor, but Pearce was struck in an unprotected spot, Trombi said.

A third deputy returned fire on GuerraVargas, who was alone in the home, Trombi said.

Pinal County Sheriff's Office spokesman Mike Minter said detectives had hoped to obtain evidence pertaining to a recent homicide in Hewlitt Station, a community near Queen Valley.

A hunter called deputies Dec. 5 after he found a body with a gunshot wound to the head buried under a pile of scrap lumber, Minter said.

Investigators found fresh tire tracks on the scene, and the clue led authorities to the mobile home.

Esteban Soto, the investigative lead in the case, was found Thursday in New Mexico and is being detained for questioning there.

Deputies are still working to identify the body, which is described as a 20- to 25-year-old Hispanic male.

Pearce has been on the force for 11 years, Deputy Argetsinger for three years.

Rep. Pearce, said he was in Washington, D.C., testifying on an immigration panel when he was told his son had been shot.

"He is feisty. He will do well," he said. "I guarantee that the moment he is allowed back, he will put that uniform on and be out there doing police work."

Russell Pearce also was shot in the chest and hand in the line of duty about 20 years ago while chasing gang members in Guadalupe.

Efforts to contact Argetsinger's family were unsuccessful.

and who uprooted them from Mexico?

Salinas de Gortari --- while discussing NAFTA stated that 25 million campesinos had to go --- and Vicente Fox is certainly interested in having them leave. They've had their farms cut off from irrigation --- so I would suspect their government uprooted them.

If you could bother to actually read up on the subject, you would find that a lot of the illegal aliens are being brought in by gangs.

Well I'll try and catch up by reading your latest thrilling post. I will grant you are correct. Gangs bring in illegals.

These gangs are organized crime syndicates and they make a lot of money doing what they do. Theft and rape are a very common part of their existance.

I don't like 'em. I think they should be caught and pay for their crimes. Next.

There is an association between crime and illegal aliens.

I believe we have established that fact and I am almost 100% sure that the illegals obtain their falsified documents through illegal sources, perhaps from these very same Illegal alien gangs. We agree again!!! This is progress.

There is a releationship between illegal alien gangs and gang rape.

I am going to defer to your expertise in this area. I know very little about illegal alien gang rape except for what I see on Cspan and Fox News. Truthfully it is not much. I ran a internet search for "illegal alien gang rape," and I got quite a number of hits. Many of them were in depth pictorials with some text. The text was most often just transcriptions of dialog like "You like that, don't you?" Mostly lacking in data. I did find some web sites filled with data collected about UFO abductions. You've piqued my interest tell me more about what you know concerning illegal alien gang rape.

You are a defender of such events by your posture on this board.

If I have given anyone the impression I condone, in anyway, illegal alien gang rape, it was not my intention.

All you can do is play silly little word games in the absence of any substantive arguement

I respond with silly word games to show how silly the original comments were. I do it because logic eludes so many, but ridicule is understood by all. Thank you for playing.

You are partially correct. It is a recipe for disaster for the wannabe Spanish Dons who now rule every aspect of Mexican life. The rest of the population are just peons to them, human chattel to be used or abused as they see fit.

Do you think they should have a revolution? Dubya seems to think he can work with Fox. The right fringers are always saying Dubya kisses Fox's butt.

Agreed. But the Borders need to be sealed first, otherwise a flood of the decent and evil people would overwhelm our poorly guarded borders.
I think Fox knows this and beats W over the head with it.
I notice you're both open borders and free trade.
Be honest: trust fund baby? Bookstore clerk? I'm not trying to be funny, just that everyone I know that made their own money is one or the other.

If MALDEF works solely to help Latinos and excludes helping people from all other races, then that is racism.

The bloody revolution is the fault of the elites being unwilling to change their corrupt system --- and why should they when it makes them very very wealthy and they've convinced us they can dump all their social problems onto us?

I don't see the Mexicans coming to America to work as a problem Mexico dumped on us. I see workers fleeing Mexico to work here as a net gain for the US.

The recent lynchings in Mexico City and exploding crime rate in Mexico should make us all realize the revolution isn't being prevented by us having open borders and our leaders allowing unlimited immigration from that country

Maybe not, not but some families might be saved. I believe America has always been a safe haven for the unwanted of the world before.

Actually Dane,

If you took the time to research the subject; you would find that many victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens are themselves Hispanic.

That is a sobering FACT. Here is a site that documents illegal alien crime victims, and their stories:

That's a round about way to get to racism. Every special interest group excludes. AARP excludes the young. Boyscouts excludes girls and gays. NRA excludes the voices of those who stand for gun control.

Now if MALDEF advocated shooting white Americans I'd say you had a case. If they claimed Whites carry diseases and are too stupid to learn Spanish, then I'm on your side. Bunch of stinking flatulent scumbag racists. No doubt about it.

Dubya seems to think he can work with Fox.

Yes, but keep in mind that Fox will be gone in two years (maybe sooner, as he now has his ranch surrounded w/ some 4,000 guards, for some reason ??).

With Fox failing on all his *campaign promises*, looks like the 'ol PRI party intends to be back in power again (for *another* 70 years ??)

The right fringers are always saying Dubya kisses Fox's butt.

If you know of ONE benefit for us AMERICANS that have resulted in the Bush/Fox talks........PLEASE POST IT. (maybe Bush said it in Spanish ??)

Everything I've heard, from these talks, benefit illegal mexicans (legalization), mexicans (Social Security), or mexcio (Billions in remittances)...... (ya know, rich mexicans only want to pay abt. 12% in taxes, to run their country).

Hello !!, GWB wants to give them SS even if they only work like 8 quarters (we have to work 40 quarters)............they also qualify if they have worked legally *or otherwise*....( Do you think any American can get SS if they say they've been working *otherwise* ??).

Don't you find it stange that our gov't *always* increases fines/penelties against US citizens that don't obey our laws..........yet when it comes to illegals the gov't can find no way to *punish* them except with a reward (legalization).

How racist is it for our gov't to continue to allow millions to *line-jump* (mainly from one country).......while millions wait IN-LINE to come here legally.

Yeah I know that, the illegal who shot at the cops was a suspect in the murder of a hispanic man.

My objection to your side is your stridency and use of hyperbole. This thread was titled to imply that only illegal aliens shoot at cops, when it was shown that all people of different colors and ethnicities shoot at cops, in their knee jerk embarassment some posters go on an ad hominem frenzy.

That said as I have stated many times before, I am not for open borders, but I am also not for a new 2,000 mile Berlin wall. I am not for generous and endless welfare benefits, that includes native born Americans, and that arguement always seems to get lost by some in this debate.

I am for English immersion in schools and in my perfect world, vouchers would be offered to parents so that they can choose a school. The biggest obstacle to English immersion and vouchers is the NEA, and again the teachers unions are never mentioned on these threads. Everybody states that ted kennedy wrote the education bill when it was President Bush's initiative, but now the NEA hates it and if the NEA hates because it brings in standards, I'm for it.

I'm for freedom of individuals to pursue their dream of owning a business that produces beneficial and good products and services. I do not believe that outsiders should try to put up barriers or rules, like the central planners of the Soviet era.

I do not beleive as some on this thread that President Bush is selling this country out, but is realistically trying to deal with a problem that has been festering 40 years, immigration laws that do not work. Yes these people are here and yes some are bad, but not all. Some are actually beneficial in that they work hard and contribute to the economy. Yes they send money home, but so did the Irish and Italians back in the early 20th centruy, were they just as evil to some on FR.

I beleive a guest worker program will bring out the more honest people and then those who refuse to partcipate can be found and deported, it's called the carrot and stick approach. Also what get's lost in this discussion is that the illegal immigration problem started after the bracero(guest worker) program was dismantled by LBJ in the mid 60's.

Also I don't care much for the cheerleading bot approach of the more strident faction on FR. I'm not here to post endless "good job and piss off the RINOOBL bastards" replies. I'm here to give my opinion and try to keep the hyperbole and emotion whipping to a minimum. Hyperbole and emotion whipping is hillary's forte and it looks like she hit a nerve with them to their own detriment, IMO. Hey remember she is the one who actually got FALN terrorists pardoned.

Agreed. But the Borders need to be sealed first, otherwise a flood of the decent and evil people would overwhelm our poorly guarded borders.

I believe most people are good, but that's a whole other arguement. The cost of building a barrier to prevent all border crossings would be prohibative, but I don't want to fight this point tonight. Ways around any barrier will be found as long as there is a demand for illegal workers. I don't think we can seal the borders alone. It must be a combination of border security and a crack down on businesses who hire illegals. Right now that demand is high. Finding a legal channel to fill the need for labor will make the effort of identifying the remaining illegals easier.

I think Fox knows this and beats W over the head with it.

I think you are probably correct.

I notice you're both open borders and free trade. Be honest: trust fund baby? Bookstore clerk? I'm not trying to be funny, just that everyone I know that made their own money is one or the other.

The reason why I post so late is that I work late into the evening and I have fewer distrations at night. I do not seem to need a lot of sleep, although some Freepers disagree. As far as my personal and job history I prefer to be vague. I will never inherate anything from my union rat family, and I make a middle class managment salary. I'm not paid as much as I'm worth but I do well enough to let my wife stay home and raise my children.

See it's stuff like that does your cause no good. Bush has stated many times that Mexico has to get it's own economic house in order.

JMO, you think Bush trying to break down barriers with Mexico is bad. I don't.

I have to trust the leaders we have, I'll trust Bush who I think is trying his best to try to get Mexico to reform. You may believe hillary may do a better job, I don't based on her previous actions, but no one is stopping you from having that opinion.

Dane is concerned that we are concentrating too heavily on criminals with Hispanic names
See his quote below, at this post #72

>"I doubt it, the above scum doesn't have a hispanic name."<

So; lets concentrate on some victims of illegal aliens, shall we?
Just a short list of many, many Hispanics who have been murdered, raped, and kidnapped, and robbed by illegal aliens:

Good for you. A stay at home mom is the only way to go.
My snide remark was probing the free trade/OBL thinking.
I remembered reading several years ago a story by a immigrant who commented to the effect of "these people just look right through me, as if I don't exist". I too could understand the thinking of the writer.
I don't think it's Anglo/Northern European thing to "Live Free or Die". I'm doing a set of house plans for a guy who wants four bedrooms, library, Grand Ballroom, breakfast nook, nursery all in 2,000 sq. ft. or less. Freeping gives me the humor to continue.

Bush has stated many times that Mexico has to get it's own economic house in order.

Well, there doesn't seem to be much progress.......(except in growth in remittances).

So does the *guest worker* program come before or after Mexico cleans house ??
