ITHACA, N.Y. A nationwide poll finds nearly half of all Americans believe the U-S government should restrict the civil liberties of Muslim Americans.
The survey -- conducted this fall by Cornell University -- found that 44 percent favored at least some restrictions, while 48 percent said civil liberties shouldn't be restricted in any way.
Twenty-seven percent of the 715 respondents supported requiring all Muslim-Americans to register where they lived -- and 29 percent thought agents should infiltrate Muslim civic and volunteer groups.
The poll also found Republicans and people who described themselves as highly religious were more likely to support curtailing Muslims' civil liberties than Democrats or people who are less religious.
The executive director of the Muslim American Society says the news is disturbing, but not surprising.

I think this poll is a setup in order to give the media something to bash Christians and Conservatives. First of all it comes from Cornell, a hell hole of liberalism. Secondly, they actually held a press conference in order to give maximum media attention to their "survey". Lastly, the Cornell "report" basically said that they expected the results before doing the survey.
As Rush says, the poll is being used to make the news, not report the public's opinion on it.
FR is becoming very bigoted as of late. I can't tell if it just the racists being more vocal or if they're mostly what are joining now. When 1/2 the threads are devoted to killing Muslims and Mexicans, how Mexicans and Muslims are responsible for every evil and problem in the world, and/or how we need to expend the U.S. nuclear arsenal on Muslim and Spanish speaking countries, something is seriously wrong with the state of the forums.
Hell, why stop there? Why not just have a "final solution to the Muslim question" and be done with the problem. That would make a lot of people on this forum very happy.
Of course those same people are so blinded by hate that they don't see that doing such a things means the terrorists win. Not only will we destroy our country in the process but we would become the very thing we are trying to stop.

We must do (what needs to be done) for the national security and preservation of America in this war on terror.There are many feel-good types who would let some of these so called peaceful muslims come to their homes for dinner. After dinner and dessert, when the muslims have slit their throats for being infidels/fools they would have a different opinion. These terrorists have the aide of P.C. to run interference for their reign of terror on America. The muslims would deport or kill us if we lived in their country and were being attacked by Americans terrorists. I am sure that there are some of the islamic faith who are decent people however, that is not viable enough for me. Yes, we do have a constitution and it needs some revision as to allowing muslims to enter our country. If loving my country and wanting our national security upheld means deporting muslims. So be it, and if that is considered being a bigot, "So Mote It Be." I would rather be labeled a bigot(Hate Crime Thought) and tried by 12 then be carried by six. There are many combat vets and others on the FR who understand this concept of thinking. Many of us have met and fought the enemy in combat and are thankful we lived through it. War, as we all know is hell and drastic measures must be taken to ensure our existence. One of my fellow freeper's stated that people will have a different view when nukes explode in the USA. I agree with him 100% and the muslims best catch the next flight from America to the mecca while it lasts. (NRA2BFree) Yes, we are much smarter than the dems, for they want to destroy America and we want to save America. The party is over the muslims need to go.
