It does not make me feel the least bit better that 10% of 1.3 billion people are jihadis in this world...
Actually because of their beliefs 1.3 billion people are
jihadis.
A lot of people seem to have a problem with asking 1.3 billion people to change their ways, yet those 1.3 billion
have no problem whatsoever DEMANDING that the remaining FIVE billion of us accept their Islamic domination.
Think about it.

Exactly. Deport them with a smile. Even give them one of those little bags of peanuts on the plane.

Mongols who ended up conquering most of the Middle East were already Moslem converts for the most part before they got there.
This was obviously a mistake on the part of the missionaries!
They nearly made the same mistake in Russia and Ukraine ~ still, it was common for Mongol overlords to become Christian. The Mongols in Estonia and Finland were also frequently Christian, and I would suppose some of them were still around when the Protestant Reformation took hold throughout Scandinaia.
(Hint: I know a bit about the history of the peoples who speak Uralic-Altaic languages, or the apparantly related Finno-Ughric languages. A neighbor girl affiliated with a church in Northern Virginia traveled to Mongolia as a missionary and helped found the first Christian church ever approved, authorized or recognized by a government in Mongolia!)
(Note: A few years back National Geographic featured the Mongol Conquests. They featured Ghengis Khan's Christian grandson).

The question I responded to did not require that the entire Muslim population accept other religions. Therefore, I believe that my answer still stands.
As for your personal experience, that is regrettable. I however, have had a positive experience. One of my roomates last semester is a Muslim woman from Afghanistan. She headed an Afghan organization in Fremont, CA. She spoke out against terrorism, and the Taliban in particular and she will likely be part of the new Afghan government. She was not silent, she was on our side. As are others that I have met. She did not stab me in the back, or blow up our house.
Besides, if our President said that we are not at war with Islam, why would we intern and deport Muslims, since they would, by definition, not be our enemy? Our enemies are Islamic fundamentalist terrorists. And they should be killed or brought to justice. If we intern and deport Muslims here, what does that say to the governments that we are trying to build in Iraq and Afghanistan? What does that say to our troops who are trying to establish good relations with the populace while rooting out the terrorists. Why make their job even more difficult and dangerous? We need to think through the implications of policy as they relate to our strategic and national security goals.

You seem to be completely unaware of the incredibly diverse groups of people found throughout the Himalayas in several countries who are hard at work proving their Jewishness so they can emigrate to Israel.
Some of their claims are spurious. Others are well documented.
While you were asleep Jewish merchants were at work on the Silk Lord under the protection of the Mongols.
Do you think all of the folks traversing Afghanistan maintained "racial purity"?

Look, there's always Communism.

I can read fine. You on the other hand, seem to be ignorant of the differences between the words "minority" and "majority," as in
once they became a sizable minority, as opposed to
requests a country with a non-Muslim government in which Muslims are a sizable majority... (check).
Once they become the majority (whether by birth or, ahem, attrition) dhimmnitide pretty much becomes the fait accompli.

BUMP for Nestorian Christians !

Interesting, but I have yet to encounter anything to convince me that the Mongols were ever predominantly anything but animist and then Buddhist... not that that matters much anyway. Thanks for the info.
The point here is that if you are anything but Muslim, you may be offered the sweet choice of a prayer rug or a coffin, and nobody else on earth is interested in forcing something like that on you.

A question ~ was the parental disapproval over the issue of "singing holiday songs" or "visiting veterans"?
Your statement has ignited a firestorm further down the thread that's a bit incomprehensible. At the moment I'm aware of several Moslem families in my neighborhood with children IN the American military around the world. Still, I'm pretty sure none of them would approve of those children "singing holiday songs", particularly not "Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer", "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree", and others.
In fact, I know Christians who disapprove of their children singing any of these secular "seasons greetings" songs from the ACLU approved list. More than likely all the parents should have kept their kids out of that event unless appropriate songs were allowed!

LOL! What makes you say that?

Well.. OK. That's cool. I wish them the best. But what does that have to do with the price of tea in China, or bunnies with pancakes on their heads?
While you were asleep Jewish merchants were at work on the Silk Lord under the protection of the Mongols.
Last night? LOL!

Oh, my FRiend, now you are starting to scare broadsword. What are you talking about and what does it have to do with anything? Perhaps you are getting tired, very tired. I get like that sometimes and post silly things.

You guys are a bunch of unreconstructed Southern Confederate sympathizers. Puts you on the wrong side no matter who we are fighting.
I could add appropriate insults to the litany but they would be wasted.

If the civil liberties of Muslim Americans can be restricted, then the civil liberties of Catholics, Jews, Mormons and 7th day Adventists can be restricted. Can the civil liberties of Mormon polygamists (multiple wives), Rastafarian (marijuana as a holy sacrament), Catholics (wine as a holy sacrament during Prohibition), or the Navajo and Huichol tribes (Peyote as a holy sacrament) be restricted?

I'm sorry, but I smell a rat here. The above statement implies that we are just sweeping the streets of Muslims and interning and deporting them. Nice try.
I happen to give the benefit of the doubt to our government. I think our government is about as happy to have these Muslims in custody as my wife and I would be to have a Homeless man living with us.
You seem to be taking the viewpoint that since you don't know who is in custody and why, that they must be just innocent people that happen to overstay their visas. I (and most Freepers) believe that these people must be a lot worse.
