Harrison Ford is to star in what will be Hollywood's first feature about the current Iraq war.
Producers Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher have bought the option for No True Glory: The Battle for Fallujah, a non-fiction written by Slate reporter Bing West.
The book is due to be published in May and tells the story of an assault on Iraqi insurgents in Falluja, from the perspective of US marines.
Variety reports that Ford is already attached to play General Jim Mattis, in charge of the attack. Shamberg and Sher's production company Double Feature has already been working with Ford on the medical drama For His Sick Kid, based on the novel by Geeta Anand.
It is probable that the film will strike a different tone to the only major feature about the US's previous war in Iraq, 1999's Three Kings, which told the story of a group of cynical, self-serving US soldiers. West's coverage of the war has tended to side with US troops.

Read the sysnopsis and read the last line in it...
Ummm don't they make war movies AFTER the war is over?
Working Titles change all the time
"I'm very disturbed about the direction American foreign policy is going," said Ford, according to the Australian Associated Press.
"I don't think military intervention is the correct solution," he said. "I regret what we as a country have done so far."
then we can blame Rummy for no armored fedoras.
If Bing West is involved, relax. Infantryman have no greater proponent than Mr. West.
As a Marine, I'm very much looking forward to this.
I guess they are referring to the first assault on Fallujah. Didn't we pull out and then not return until after the election here at home? I am pretty sure a lot of conservatives have said we made a mistake in April pulling out. Not surprised if Hollywood's exploiting the fact.

I'm sorry, but I've read a lot of military history, and NO good writeups appear THAT SOON after the fact. Virtually ZERO research could have gone into this "book". The task takes time, sometimes years. Documents take years to become available.
This could, at best, only be one person's expierence and could not possible be anything near a comprehensive review. Might make an average action movie but will probably have nothing real to say about Falluja.
'Nuff said...
Yeah, sounds like the movie is definitely anti-Bush, anti-war. I voted in the poll, the last choice (will never watch, not even on the plane.) Ford is a liberal. My husband and I think his last several movies have been stinkers anyway. Of course I'll always love Han Solo.
I know its the Guardian, I couldn't find another news link so I had to kill myself and post that one.
I hope you're right but I'm not optimistic.
Semper Fi,
Kelly
Ford is gonna have to lose the earring to play General Jim Mattis.
Semper Fi,
just did... these msm sociali-sodomites are predictable; even in a movie that ostensibly covers an American Victory, there must always be a darker current to undermine it.
I'm getting to the point where I'm almost overconfident about the left - they do the same shit day in, day out, and America is catching on, one county at a time...
Actually, there was also Courage Under Fire, with Denzel Washington and Meg Ryan.
