I love it! The headline is actually correct now.

Yesterday, I was flying back from France and sitting next to a lady from France. She asked if I had seen the map showing where the counties were that voted for Kerry and Bush. She told me that the places with all the smart people voted for Kerry. I informed her that she had misinterpreted. The counties with all the Welfare recipients voted for Kerry. I also pointed out that there were many very intelligent people in the Midwest and south and that she best not be defaming them.

Love it.
And by the way, I highly recommend Dave Leip's site. Nirvana for political junkies. It's nonpartisan -- just the facts, and a lot of them, for every Presidential election. Warning: it can be addictive. Don't go there unless you can afford to kill a couple of hours.

You should e-mail this to that newspaper. You'll probably get a smart alecky response, but it would be worth it.

Actually, the headline was "How can 59,054,087 people be so dumb?" Still not accurate :)

Another great stat from this website:
President Bush won 81% of all counties in the U.S.
http://www.uselectionatlas.org/USPRESIDENT/stats.php?year=2004&f=0
IT'S NOT RED STATES VS BLUE STATES;
IT'S RED COUNTIES VS BLUE COUNTIES:
Red Counties: 2,530 (81%) President Bush
Blue Counties:0,583 (19%)
President Bush represents the country; the Democrats represent a few metropolitan areas!

So once again...how can 59 million people be so dumb????? So? Do you admit that the original article was in fact accurate? An apology is in order, dude.

I'm actually impressed with the total votes: over 121 million people. That's about a 50% voter turnout, right? (assuming a U.S. population of 250 mil.)
