Accommodations in DC metropolitan area for Inaugural Ball (links)
December 15, 2004

Posted on 12/15/2004 7:22:22 PM PST by tgslTakoma

Lodging links I posted on the W2 Ball announcement thread, with some new additions...
Will post more as my free time allows me to.

VIRGINIA lodging:

Days Inn Arlington, VA - 2201 Arlington Blvd - 6 blocks from Metro. Right now, they only have a few rooms left. Two night minimum stay. $112.50 per night.

Econo Lodge National Airport - 2485 S. Glebe Rd. Arlington, VA. They still have a number rooms left, at $89.99 per night. One night stay is still OK. - Free shuttle to Pentagon Metro.

Quality Hotel Courthouse Plaza - 1200 N. Courthouse Rd. Arlington, VA. - Courthouse Metro 0.3 mi. - Rosslyn Metro 0.7mi. Plenty of (premium-priced) rooms are presently available, from $280 - $310 per night. One night stay is OK according to their online reservation center. Courtesy shuttle available

Comfort Inn Arlington Blvd/DC Gateway - 6111 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA. - Metro station 2.0 mi. Several rooms left, from $130 - 140 per night. One night stay OK, per online reservation center. Courtesy shuttle available 8am-9pm

Quality Inn Governor - 6650 Arlington Blvd, Falls Church, VA - East Falls Church Metro 1.0 mi. Just a few rooms left at this motel, $88 per night. One night stay OK, per online reservation center.

Comfort Inn - 5716 Van Dorn St., Alexandria, VA - Van Dorn Metro 1.0 mi. A few rooms are left, from $114.99 to $174.99. Courtesy shuttle (to Metro) is available. One night stay OK, per online reservation center.

Days Inn Alexandria - 6100 Richmond Highway, Alexandria, VA. Has a number of rooms available, $63 -$67.50 per night; one night reservation available. 10 minute walk to Metro. No courtesy shuttle.

Alexandria Days Inn - 110 S. Bragg St, Alexandria, VA. Has a number of rooms available, $94.05 per night. Complimentary shuttle to Metro

MARYLAND lodging:
Editorial Note: I hesitate to list any MD motels, especially Prince Georges County, as MD is full of control-freak liberals who have made it a haven for armed robbers, gangs, and other assorted ne'er do wells. Virginia at least trusts its law-abiding citizens to carry firearms on their persons. Not so in MD. Try to find lodging in VA first - that's this PG county, Maryland native's opinion. But, if you're not skeered a no criminals...

Days Inn College Park - 9137 Baltimore Blvd. College Park, Maryland Just a few rooms available, $80.10 per night. No online information if they have a courtesy shuttle to the Metro. Please check when you make reservations.

Days Inn Lanham - 9023 Annapolis Rd., Lanham, MD. A number of rooms available, from $60 - $88 per night. Webpage states that Metro is "just minutes away." Caveat emptor. No info if courtesy shuttle to Metro is available. Inquire at motel.

Also, Freeper GRRRRR has a two bedroom, two bathroom suite reserved at the Residence Inn located in Bethesda, MD (the Metro subway station is directly across from the motel), suitable for a group of Freepers to share. Contact GRRRRR on the thread I linked, to find out more. Note: Bethesda is a bit more civilized than PG county.

Thanks! I'll point out that Jetblue for those flying from Oakland and some other cities, has a Friends Fly Free deal.

I'm still thinking about it....

True, but it's just as liberal if not more.

Thanks for posting this. I've just arrived home after spending who knows how many days living out of a suitcase.

I will take care of it first thing in the morning.

We stayed in a lovely suite hotel this summer near George Washington University Hospital (aka Foggy Bottom-- one block from that Metro station stop). The hotel is owned by the university and has a great restaurant and bar as well. One Circle Hotel. They have a website to look at too.

Here's another hotel, Quality Inn and Suites, in College Park, relatively cheap at $99.00 and up:

It is .3 mile from college Park Metro.

I may be attempting to be WAY TOO ORGANIZED, but perhaps we should put together a listing of what attendees are staying where....

NOOOOO, not the dreaded list.........

Don't worry, roaddog... right now most folks will quietly book their hotels and get their tickets. As the date draws nearer, folks will start posting more, and when everybody gets together for dinner the night before Inauguration, hotel info and phone numbers will be shared.

That's my recollection of how things worked the last time.

:-)

Well, every time I get in here, I get more jealous that I can't come. So, does anyone know how many tickets have been sold so far? I hope everyone has a wonderful time, and takes lots of pictures--AND starts a live thread, if possible!

Thanks tgsl...BUMPUS Christmas!

I am still holding this room and will hold until early January. After that, I'm gonna have to unload it and hope they don't insist on my paying the cancellation fee.

Merry Merry Christmas!

I booked over Priceline and ended up at the Holiday Inn in College Park for less than $100. Couldn't find anything at 2 1/2 stars or better at a price of up to $150 closer in.
