Bruce Willis TV special to inspire 'new generation of dads'

LOS ANGELES -- U.S. cable's Spike TV examines the rewards of being a father in a two-hour special "True Dads with Bruce Willis."

The special, hosted by actor and father of three Bruce Willis, is scheduled for Friday at 9 p.m. EST/PST.

"Today's men are looking for new role models about how to be a dad -- you can't just come home and watch TV anymore," says Albie Hecht, president of Spike TV. "According to research from Spike TV's recent nationwide study of men, we found that nearly half of the men surveyed said they don't spend as much time as they would like with their kids -- we hope this documentary will help to inspire a new generation of fathers."

One out of every four U.S. homes has no father.

The show examines fatherhood from the perspective of six dads via their personal stories and experiences, including: NASCAR's Kerry Earnhardt; Dr. Jonathan Clark, husband of late astronaut Laurel Clark who was killed in the 2003 Columbia Space Shuttle tragedy; and Joseph Jones, a one-time heroin addict and deadbeat dad.

Bruce is probably a great father to his children. I would have divorced Moore, if I were him, too. She's got issues. You can be a divorcee and still be a great father.

This will only have meaning if it is about true fatherhood and not some feminist ideal of an emasculated betamale.

my point exactly. anyone who'd leave bruce and then get together that vapid bag of humanity has some severe emotional troubles.

Not really if you are a "divorcee" and a father you definitely have some "issues". A "divorcée" is a divorced woman. A "divorcé" is a divorced man.

It's on Spike tv, so it should be alright.

But I agree. Hopefully they will focus on how fathers can instill character, strength, patience, resilience in their kids.

I met Kerry Earnhardt at MIS several years ago when I was picking up a friend doing construction in the garage area. Earnhardt was there to be a dad. He showed up more than a week before the ARCA race so he could spend a quiet week with his family and go see the sights.

Well, that's better than his first choice "Un-named Dan Rather Source".

Bruce and Demi were in splitsville long before Punk'd boy came along.

That is hollywood. It would not be surprising if that whole may/december "romance" is just a fake to rehabilitate her lagging career.

How many other famous relationships were fakes? (rock hudson)

Seems to me that if dads would spend less time watching Spike TV learning how to be a good dad and use that time to hang out with their kids the problem might be solved.
