Personally, I love my Madden 2005 for the PC but this really does suck for the consumer. My brother loves ESPN's football game on the PS2. He loses, I "win"...but at what cost to me next version?
exactly - while Madden is an awesome game, it has been nice getting something different from ESPN. PLUS, at only $20, I was much happier with that over $50 Madden which has played the same for a long time
This is BAD for games and the NFL. It will virtually wipe out ESPN and the other games. I have both Madden 2005 and EPSN 2k5 and I can tell you that the ESPN game is better.
I think EA makes great sports games but agree this is bad for consumer cause they will of course jack up the price...havent played Espn games but heard they were good
$99.99 price point for Madden 2K6.
Don't like it? Go play Mario World.
Nba live is far better than Espn basketball...but just hope they dont do it to the nba cause choices is good as others on here have said
Well, without the competition, EA won't be pressed to make a better NFL game, but I will say they already dominated the market. However, they have done a good job in trying to make the game better every year, but competition from a serious company would have been good/
So why wouldn't you buy it if they went to fictitious teams and players? They're computer-generated manequins on screen, anyway - right?
It's not a stretch at all.
....and here's the starting line up for the Philadelphia Eagles brought to you by Wal-Mart and EA Sports (remember, IT'S in the game!): Starting at Wide Receiver, sponsored by ABC's Desperate Housewives (Sunday night at 9), Terrell "The team needs me" Owens... Starting at Quarterback, sponsored by Campbell's Soup, Donovan "Chunky" McNabb...
You are kidding right? Presentation matters. Liscensing matters. People want to be Peyton Manning from the Colts, not QB#18 from the white blue team.
Does the NFL have an anti-trust exemption similar to that enjoyed by MLB? This is a terrible development for the consumer. It will stifle development and raise prices all to put a few more dollars into the pockets of multi-millionaire athletes. There is no way to put a "smiley face" on this injustice.
I hear the XFL license is available for cheap.
EA Sucketh the big one for this. That's why I always buy my EA games used.
I have heard EA has a bunch of ready to go enhancements lined up but only allow a few enhancements each release to make it better. Like the Playmaker feature was ready to go back in 1997-98 but only recently added to make it more marketable. Other features i heard EA is holding back are:
WR finding soft zone spots
Offensive line zone pass protections
THis is all hearsay but from what I heard how EA runs their shop (dirty and unfair to employees), it doesnt suprise me.
that makes me feel better.. I spent 20 bucks because I thought I wouldn't play it that much.. then after playing it(I still can't get into the online.. too hard to meet up with people at certain times for the tourney's).. however it's defintely an addictive game.. best football one I've ever played.
Perfect... haha.
Madden has always made a good game - even without serious competition. I just worry now because they won't have any.
