HBN, WASHINGTON, DC, Tues. Dec. 14: Sen. Hillary Clinton is seemingly taking a hard-line against illegal immigration and is being lauded by Conservatives for the position.
The Washington Times yesterday cited at least two instances in recent weeks, when the New York Senator has stated her tough stance on the issue.
These reportedly include an interview last month on Fox News last month when Clinton said she does not "think that we have protected our borders or our ports or provided our first responders with the resources they need, so we can do more and we can do better."
And in an interview on WABC radio, she said, "I am, you know, adamantly against illegal immigrants," according to the Washington Times.
"Clearly, we have to make some tough decisions as a country, and one of them ought to be coming up with a much better entry-and-exit system so that if we're going to let people in for the work that otherwise would not be done, let's have a system that keeps track of them," the paper quoted her as adding.
Rep. Tom Tancredo, a conservative Colorado Republican, who has been a staunch backer of tighter immigration policies, has taken notice.
"She's not a dumb woman," Tancredo spokesman Carlos Espinoza told the Times. "She's got a great liberal base, and she realizes there's no better way to draw in more conservative voters. She has really come out to the forefront on that."
Meanwhile, in a statement on the passage of The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, Clinton stated, “While I look forward to a productive debate on immigration issues in the next Congress, I am pleased that there are a number of key immigration reform provisions in this legislation, including those addressing the process of obtaining U.S. visas.”
The move is being viewed by Conservatives as a welcome ploy to pull in more voters from Republican states, should she run for President in 2008. – Hardbeatnews.com

What's worse is that she was given the opportunity to run to the right of the GOP on illegal aliens, because so many of them have cut to the left.
The only spending cuts the left cares about is the military. That is all.
All she has to do is maintain Kerry's blue states and grab a couple red ones in '08(Arizona, New Mexico, Arkansas). With this issue the red border states would be vulnerable.
A brilliant move for the Hildabeaste. She knows that many (most?) conservatives disagree with President Bush's stand on this. So she attempts to preempt him. But, let us not forget she is pure evil and wishes to do great harm to our country. Deep inside, nothing has changed. This is just a clever(?) political ploy.

TAE: You met both Bill Clinton and John Kerry while you were at Yale. You disliked both. On the other hand you found Hillary Rodham a genuinely warm and sincere person. Has their later behavior confirmed or challenged what you saw then?
MEDVED: I thought at the time that Kerry was simply too pompous to go as far as he has. Usually politicians who are successful are people with some kind of spontaneous likeability. I had close contact with John Kerry, and his likeability factor is nonexistent.
I think Hillary will be more of a challenge in 2008 than a lot of conservatives think. She's really worked hard in the Senate. She's definitely moved to the center. And her voting record on military things is now conservative. If she's able to allow her native niceness to come out, she will be a formidable candidate.

Like I keep saying, she can't win. But I am laughing my butt off that she is gonna force Bush to deal with the immigration issue:)
I don't think many will pay attention to what she says now. Most people will only remember how evil she was/is and will see right thru her.
I hope you are right. She has a lot of sheeple, though. But she could never change MY mind.
Hildebeast should prove her sincerity by starting a bill through congress to require enforcement of huge fines against employers for hiring of illegals.

Me either, knowing that "moderates" will fall for Hillary's trick, or the Republican kool-aiders who think the (Bush/Rudy/Arnold)GOP is remotely conservative.
We need Tancredo, Santorum, or somebody like that. (Is there anyone else like that in DC right now?)
