TODAY'S HIGHLIGHT: GWB awarded the nation's highest civilian honor -- the Presidential Medal of Freedom -- Ambassador L. Paul "Jerry" Bremer, former CIA Director George Tenet, and retired U.S. Army General Tommy Franks.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: General Tommy Franks was raised in Midland, Texas -- nothing wrong with that. (Laughter.) I didn't know him then, but Laura and he went to the same high school. In those days, some people in Midland wondered about Tommy's future. It sounds familiar. (Laughter.) At a recent high school reunion, Tommy's old principal told the General, "You weren't the brightest bulb in the socket," to which the General replied, "Ain't this a great country?" (Laughter.) -- President George W. Bush, Presidential Medal of Freedom Ceremony, 12/14/04
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island.
I almost wish that were the case here. But then again, I plan on majoring in politics and I don't think I'd be as happy a person if I didn't have people to talk to about politics.
He's got that TIE on again. The one that everyone either loves or hates.
I love Laura's dress, great color, beautiful lines. She looks about 30 in that picture.
but, then again...you have also never had to deal with February.... ;)
This is true :)
Aha, you want more...let's see...
His shirt was white. He had an undershirt on, I noticed.
Actually, his voice seems a little higher in person. It was really cute, he was telling a group of people near me he wished Laura was there, and they starting "wooo-ing" and such. He let out a huge laugh and told them "behave yourself" which was just ADORABLE!
I think I was breathing but I'm not sure. I was so high up in the clouds for the next few days that I didn't care if I was breathing. I actually got in the car and cried!! Is that pathetic or what??
Good evening hope you had a good day
I'd better call it an evening now, I should spend some quality time with my sweetie before I go to sleep.
Ya'll are great, thanks for lifting my spirits and letting me relax for a while!!
Chat with ya later...have a great night!
**I actually got in the car and cried!! Is that pathetic or what??**
Actually, it's probably what I would have done. Anything else you remember?
Boy he sure resembles his father in the limo picture!
Good night love glad we have helped to lift your spirits have fun with your sweetie
I must think about turning in myself in a few minutes.
I gotta go to bed too. My puppy's getting anxious cuz he wants to go to bed but he won't go upstairs without me. Good night, everyone! :)
Ooooh, Meijer! I loved shopping there when I lived in Michigan; my son even ended working there for awhile.
I moved to Ann Arbor from the inner city of Philadelphia and was just floored by the bounty of Meijer. Going shopping there was like having a religious experience.
Maybe only women get attached like this to stores, I don't know. I do know that Meijer (and the store's history) made such an impression on me that I wound up including it as an example of a founder's continuing influence on an organization when I wrote my doctoral general exam. What a store!
Can you identify his cologne? Always wondered what his or Laura's taste might be.
It really wasn't a cologne smell, it was just a clean sort of smell. Like maybe just a splash of aftershave.
That's how I prefer my man anyway, not drowned in scent but just a little to compliment his natural smell.
Whatever it was, it was working!
A friend of mine just met him for the first time a couple of months ago, and she said "you were right, the thing I remember best is that he smelled SO good!" She thought I was just nuts before that...
Night all must turn in or I shall feel like dog meat in the morning.
God Bless you all and God Bless America.
Let freedom reign!!!!
Great to hear you got a job, ilovew. Congratulations.
. . . just dropping by both to thank all of you for your kind comments two nights ago and, of course, to admire our photogenic president!

Night all!
When I was young, (many years ago), a drug store was where you got prescriptions filled and bought cosmetics and over the counter drugs like aspirin, cough syrup and first aid products. But it also had a soda fountain where you could get fountain drinks and sundaes and banana splits and sandwiches. I just loved to go to the drugstore. But the ones like that are all gone I think.
snugs, a drugstore is an apothecary. And snow is most definitely overrated.
Nice to see you here tonight.
I'm afraid you may be right! I do know about such stores. They still existed at least 20 years ago! I know, because I worked at such a store, fountain and everything!
It had once been a candy store, or so my uncle remembered. My employer, the Pharmacist, was once the fountain person before going through school, and eventually buying it. It's gone now, replaced by a convenience store. It's sad to think that there are so few, if any left!
