How can we stop the ACLU? I am serious, so please try and refrain from half-cocked comments. Everyday, it seems, I am reading about another way the ACLU is trampling on the rights of the majority in a wacked out attempt to push its leftist agenda. From getting a cross taken out of the city of Los Angeles' crest (98% of L. A. residents polled wanted to keep it), to attacking a private entity such as the Boy Scouts, to turning the word Christmas into a vulagarity. I have seen and heard enough out of these people.
My idea is this. I want to start a grass roots effort to combat the ACLU. The problem is I wouldn't even know where to start. So I am appealing to you Freepers. I have faith that there are enough rational, intelligent people on here to come up with some truly viable ideas. I am all for having fun, but please try to keep the stupid comments to a minimum. I know that may be asking a lot of some of you, but please try and refrain.
Let's put our clout to use.

How about we get them to fight anti-gun laws.
After all gun ownership is a "Civil Liberty".

How Can We Fight the ACLU? By appointing competent judges. If not for the judiciary, the ACLU would just have another website. They can't persuade anyone. So they impose their will, on the courts, through the courts, by means of incompentent or like-minded judges. It's the judiciary that's the problem. Fix the courts!

How do you defeat them? Have a massive number of freepers join the ACLU and destroy it from within.

Support authentic civil rights groups like the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) based in Washington, D.C.

Join Roger Hedgecock of San Diego in 2005 to fight ACLU.I feel that for every frivilous suit a counter suit should be filed or better yet have them defend your rights against same.

Counter sue in as many courts as possible under hate crime and discrimination laws. Then challenge the ACLU for proof under the Constitution of separation of Church and state. Then demand that the government recind the provision of re-embursing ACLU lawyers with taxpayers money!

Find District Attorneys who will invoke the RICO Act in a suit against them. They are extorting money all over the place, this enables them to go on to further evil. And much of this is taxpayer money....OUR money.
DISTRICT ATTORNEY CANDIDATES--THIS IS A GREAT CAMPAIGN ISSUE!

End the federal 'civil rights legislation' subsidy.
Newt Gingrich was on Fox's O'Rielly several nights ago and stated that the Activist judges could be delt with very easily by Congress. The office could just be done away with by Congress and the funding stopped. This could be done because of the misinterpretation of the Laws by these Judges. The Problem is getting the Congress to do anyhting about it.
The Dimms and the Republicans JUST WILL NOT HEAR the AMERICAN People, we have no place else to go for representation in Congress: Let's see, elections 2006,

AN all out campaign by the people via Phone,Mail and E-mail may be possible to bring pressure to get these judges removed.

How about we get them to fight anti-gun laws. After all gun ownership is a "Civil Liberty". I suggest you read the ACLU position statement on the Second Amendment. That Leftist organization unilaterally decided that "the People" in the Second Amendment means "the National Guard."

You fight them with knowledge, with understanding of where they are coming from--of their Fabian Socialist roots;--and, above all, with their deliberately deceptive approach to the issues.

They sent the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors a letter concerning the cross on the seal, to which they knuckled under. If a letter is all it takes, I'd say we've had it.

700 lawyers ready to fight ACLU lawsuits Legal group's 'Christmas Project' designed to protect public schools

Is it illegal to sing Christmas carols in public school? Or to display a manger scene or even to say the words "Merry Christmas" in those halls of learning?
Many public school officials act as though such prohibitions were clearly laid on in the Constitution and defensively ban every vestige of "religious expression" out of fear of an expensive ACLU lawsuit.
But this year, help is on the way: An army of 700 lawyers is being deployed to protect America's schools from the ACLU grinch.
In the past few weeks, the Alliance Defense Fund has contacted over 3,600 school districts nationwide, explaining the law and separating myth from fact regarding the celebration of Christmas in public schools. Moreover, as part of the group's "Christmas Project," more than 700 ADF and affiliated attorneys nationwide are available at no cost to the school district to combat any attempts to censor the celebration of Christmas in schools and on public property.
"The phrase 'separation of church and state' is not in the U.S. Constitution, but because of the fear, intimidation, and disinformation groups like the ACLU promote, many public officials and educational leaders mistakenly believe it is their duty to silence Christian religious expression," said ADF President Alan Sears. "ADF's goal this season is to inform and educate the 96 percent of Americans who celebrate Christmas regarding their rights."
Last month, ADF delivered the same information on the law to every state board of education and National Education Association chapter in the country, as well as to the national NEA office and the U.S. Department of Education.
The goal of ADF's Christmas Project is to clear up misconceptions about seasonal religious expression on public property. According to the public-interest law firm:
The U.S. Supreme Court has never ruled that public schools must ban the singing of religious Christmas carols or prohibit the distribution of candy canes or Christmas cards.
School officials may refer to a school break in December as "Christmas Vacation" or as a holiday without offending the Constitution.
School officials do not violate the Constitution by closing on religious holidays such as Christmas and Good Friday.
No court has ever held that celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas as religious holidays requires recognition of all other religious holidays.
The "Three Reindeer Rule" used by the courts requires a municipality to place a sufficient number of secular objects in close enough proximity to the Christmas item (such as a crèche) to render the overall display sufficiently secular. Although the overall display must not convey a message endorsing a particular religion's view, Christmas displays are not banned as some people believe. Simply put, the courts ask, "Is the municipality celebrating the holiday or promoting religion?"
"We want to dispel the myths about religious expression at Christmastime that have prompted wrongful acts of government censorship of religious speech," Sears said. "It's OK to say 'Merry Christmas!'"
School Districts or public entities being sued over their Christmas displays or expression can contact the Alliance Defense Fund through its website or by calling 1-877-TELL-ADF.

I did not hear the Gingrich interview, but I suspect that someone has misunderstood what he was suggesting. The way Congress can stop the activist Federal Judges is not by removing them from office, but by the much simpler practice of simply redefining their jurisdiction. Under Article III, Congress defines the jurisdiction of the District Courts, as well as the Appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.

Freepers Jay777 and IronJack have been working on this as well.
I currently donate to the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), and the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC). I would encourge everyone to support one or more of these fine organizations as they are working to oppose the ACLU. Sign up for their newsletters so you can keep up with the work they are doing.

I agree with you. The ACLU is a destructive organization!!! Left unchecked they will destroy America and all of us with it. Hopefully, we will get some conservative Supreme Court Judges in the next couple of years that will follow the Constitution and put the ACLU in their place. (The trash dumpster.) Hopefully, they will reverse some of the ACLU wins. I have NO faith in our politicians doing anything to stop them. I think it would be wise if we start a grass roots organization that goes after them. As far as I'm concerned, they rank right up there with the U.N. and the Democrat Party. All anti-American and evil.
