Sometimes I wear safari pants and golf shirts with a .45 in shoulder holster, and stand around in front of houses on Christmas without a jacket to look very threatening. But only every now and then.

"Why should I respect his property rights?"
I don't know, why should you respect anyone's property rights? Why should you respect the law? Why do anything?
Because civil participants in a non-socialist/communist nation recognize the rights of all others to be secure in their person, property, and possessions. If you want to enter their private property, you play by their rules. If you choose not to, they have every right to toss you off their property and call the police if you create a problem.

Costco already lost my business when they gave millions to the Kerry campaign and MoveOn.

Can't offer any input here. I'm from NJ. Only legal way to carry a gun is to dismantle it into parts and store the pieces separately in the trunk and glove compartment. :PI am in Iloinois. The only legal way to carry a gun here is to be in another State!!

Would you complain if their security removed you from the property for violating their rules (assuming they post the signs)? Hah! Their pot-bellied, nearly blind "security" couldn't spot an AR-15 on the shoulder of a turban-wearing terrorist.
And yes, I would complain if they nabbed me. They'd be told they are nothing but gun-grabbing Nazis.
Stores should be careful about making such policies in areas where a large part of their customers believe in the 2nd amendment--people might suddenly find they've become clumsy, and start knocking items off the shelf (accidently of course).

So you are as vulnerable as me, huh?
Maybe we need a nice set up golf clubs? The unarmed man's/woman's iron?

Exactly. And as the Costcos I am aware of aren't in the "best" neighborhoods, I'd suggect Wal mart ;) Er...ChinaMart, whatever ;)Interesting. In our neighborhood it is the opposite. Sams Club are in the lower income areas and Costco is usually near the very upscale (re: freakin expensive) neighborhoods.
The Costco is clean and neat. The Sams Clubs looks like people have just gone crazy knocking stuff off the shelves and throwning the merchandise around for no good reason. It's slightly more to get the Costco membership, maybe that is why.
I know people complain about the CEO of Costco giving money to the dems, but I've never seen any bias left or right. They carry Anne Coulters books right next to x42s autobio right next to Sean Hannity's books right next to Michael Moore's crap.
Everyone can shop where ever they please, but I just think if we were to boycott everything that didn't 100% lean right we would be living next to the Unibomber's shack making our own clothes out of bark.

Come to think of it, I'd probably drop trou and do it myself given your attitude about property rights. Make sure you smile for the cameras, so we have a before and after picture of your big brown eye.
Before the buckshot, and after.
If I get removed from a store for "violating" their property rights, you get "removed" from my property on a stretcher, for violating my property rights. BTW--NO Trespassing.

"They'd be told they are nothing but gun-grabbing Nazis."
They're not grabbing anything at all. They're simply saying that if you want to enter their private property, you may not do so while carrying a firearm. If I decide that I don't want guns in my house (fat chance of that), do you feel you have the right to sneak guns in anyway? Your personal freedoms are limited while you're on the property of another person.
"Stores should be careful about making such policies in areas where a large part of their customers believe in the 2nd amendment--people might suddenly find they've become clumsy, and start knocking items off the shelf"
That's pretty childish. I suspect that if this is that much of an issue for people, they'll see many customers flocking to other stores where this policy is not in effect. If someone is caught purposely knocking things off shelves, I hope they're tossed off the property with their membership revoked sans refund.

Well, it doesn't. His property rights trump your right to free speech, too. If you don't like it, don't go on his property. As the saying goes, "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6."

I Texas, they could charge you with criminal trespass. Texas law doesn't seem to think your wish to carry a gun automatically allows you to enter someone else's property.

It's no wonder people want to restrict gun nuts... My enemies I can handle, but Lord help me with my allies.

Does Costco have the right to control access to their property? Can Costco not allow blacks access to their property?
Can Costco not allow homosexuals to their property?
Can Costco not allow Catholics to their property?
Can Costco not allow Republcans to their property?
This "Freedom" thing gets a bit confusing at times!

I don't know, why should you respect anyone's property rights? Why should you respect the law? Why do anything? Respect is a two-way street--unless you're a liberal. The whole idea of civil disobedience was started by the looney left, and now they think they are the only ones who can exercise that right.
Ultimately, most customers would vote with their feet if they knew the store had no respect for their rights--all of them. The stupidity, the utter stupidity of some people thinking a sign will prevent someone from carrying a gun into their store would be laughable if the consequences were not so serious.
I would support any private business banning guns if they did it right, by installing metal detectors and a fool-proof procedure to guarantee no guns got into their store. Anyting less is just liberal crap thinking.
