AP Polls: Many Europeans Cool Toward Americans as Well as Bush Re-Election
The Tampa Tribune ^ | December 13, 2004 | Will Lester [Associated Press]

International resentment of the Bush administration has spilled over to include bad feelings for the American people, too — at least in three European countries that opposed U.S. policies in Iraq.

People in France, Germany and Spain are more likely to have an unfavorable than favorable view of Americans, Associated Press polling found.

Just over half in France and Germany said they viewed Americans unfavorably. Almost half in Spain felt that way, while a third of Spaniards viewed Americans favorably.

The U.S. rift with longtime allies France and Germany is the most serious in years, and relations with Spain have been particularly frosty since Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero withdrew Spanish troops from Iraq last April.

President Bush pledged soon after his re-election victory on Nov. 2 that he would work to "deepen our trans-Atlantic ties with the nations of Europe." He plans a trip to Europe in February.

But the president, and Americans generally, have plenty of work to do to win over Europeans, according to international AP-Ipsos polls.

The polling suggests an increasing lack of European understanding of Americans rather than a surge of anti-Americanism, said Gilles Corman, the director of public affairs for Ipsos-Inra of Belgium.

I wouldnt say that....

we deal with them when they are ready to act like mature adults in the real world.

No reason for a boycott. They need us just as badly if not worse than we need them.

Yawn! Who cares. The only EU alliances that matter have all moved east. The only exception is Britain. As for the "Three Stooges",(France, Germany, Spain), "F"m and feed them fish.

I don't care how these envious, scummy people 'feel' toward America or Americans-socialist losers.

I have a girlfriend who just got back from France, Italy and Spain ... she went with 3 relatives with Mexican passports while she had a US passport. She said that the French were totally obnoxious and let her know it was because of Bush.

Will Rogers wrote that over 50 years ago. Why in the world does the AP think this is new? Because they hate the President.

Other than some help these countries gave us 200 years or so ago....

France has been working against us since the second world war. We've pulled their balls out of the fire lots of times. They failed on the panama canal. They lost indochina by giving the communists a foothold. They lost europe by giving the mohammedans a foothold. They can rot with their anglophobic culture for all I care.

Germany attacked us during WWII. They have no right to exist as a nation or as a people

Spain is full of socialists. Again, let them rot and die. They've become far more trouble than they are worth.

These flyspeck countries don't even have any resources that would be useful to us. With the exception of a few good castles and cathedrals they are cultural and economic wastelands full of rude, smelly people. An entire continent begging to be neutron bombed.

And they think that they dislike us?
