I just hope this is an asterisk and not the end of an era. God bless Mr. Clark in his recovery!

I haven't watched the New Year's Eve count-down in many years. Best wishes to Dick Clark.

I agree. I've watched every single one as far back as I can remember.

Dick Clark is a holdover from an era when rock 'n' roll was simply teenage fun and hijinks (yes, including some backseat action), not morose pseudo-philosopy and crude sexual exploitation.

As previously announced, singer Ashlee Simpson will host the West Coast portion of the show.

Oh for pity's sake! She gonna do a bad lipsynch for us on New Year's Eve too?! Sheesh...

I have a video of Guy Lombardo ringing in 1958.

I watch it every year.

Can't wait for 1959.

Wow, this is the first one he's missed since that whole Black Death thing in the 1300s, right? :)

Get well soon, Dick, from an old fart who remembers the old "American Bandstand" from Philly...

It's just not going to be the same without him.

I second that. I have a difficult time picturing Regis Philbin at the helm.....

Best wishes for a speedy recovery Mr. Clark. God Bless.
