I thought the guilt phase would be about whether or not he was guilty, and the penalty phase would be about what the penalty should be. Silly me.

If I were on the jury, I'd have to vote for life, given the lack of evidence. I hate Scott, but could not vote for death.

Theyr'e reporting that Scott showed up to court looking happy and upbeat today. What is really going on in that guy's head? Did the psychic hotline people tell him he'd get good news today?

Even if he get death, he's got at least another 25 years left - at a minimum. Many of us will be gone before he is.

Unless, of course, he PO's his new husband.

I think he'll get life in prison - no parole. Then again, I actually didn't think they'd be able to convict him in the first place.

I think he did it - but as folks have said on here, it was circumstantial.

Yeah - you never know about Commiefornia. OJ was proven 100 times more guilty than Peterson -- and he's still playing golf.

Then again - Peterson is pigmentally-challenged....

That's the thing about voting for a life sentence: the prisoners are going to kill him sooner than the state would if he got the death penalty. It'll take about a decade for all of his appeals to run dry. It would take about 2 months for him to get murdered when a guard just happened to be looking the other way.

Scott will have it better, in either case, than his wife and son, Laci and Conner, that he murdered. He left them to be eaten by creatures.

In order to vote for life because of the lack of evidence, you would have also had to vote guilty despite the lack of evidence.

Does anyone here understand that it's wrong to send a man to prison for life because you don't think he's guilty? If he's guilty, he gets the death penalty. If he's innocent, he gets life. Does this really make sense?

Great thread. Everyone should visit it. Fools! My post:

Damn those jurors! I wonder how they got to all 12 of them in order for them to deliver this verdict at this critical moment? No doubt this has been planned since jury selection back in June? Or worse...do you think this may have been Peterson's motive in killing his wife and UNBORN CHILD. Wow, these bastards will stop at nothing..

There go my DU posting privlidges! What shall I do now?

Yes, of course. But perhaps some jurors were only 85% sure he was guilty (beyond a reasonable doubt) and can't go further down that road to the death penalty. However, if I were on a jury with you, your cold hard logic would probably win me over. And maybe that's exactly what went down in the jury room. We'll soon find out.

I have no doubt he will be sentenced to death. After all, he killed two people.

So did O.J. Simpson.

He will get life without parole, IMO.

As Rush pointed out today, they don't execute anybody in CA, so Peterson will either get life in prison or life on deathrow.
