Canada has become the newest dream nation for the far left. Many liberals simply claim they cannot take any more after the 2004 election. Leftists accuse Americans as "betraying" them to a "right-wing movement." Therefore, it seems only sensible to look to the nation to America's north. A nation, I might add, that allows gay marriage, has legalized drugs, authorizes large healthcare, and has skyrocketing taxes. Also, it has a liberal government in Paul Martin.
Ottawa seems a much friendlier place for liberals these days. Media jumped on this story after the election, as they saw new requests for moving to Canada. Some liberals have moved in the past, and others have looked to encourage movement. One left-wing website, canadianalternative.com, stated on the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) stated that it had received visits in the hundreds of thousands. Canada represents everything liberals look to accomplish. In a report by CBC's The National, most interviewed liberal Americans said they were "tired of fighting."
That is why the left may want to move. They realize that there are nations that sacrifice morality for anything or anyone. Nothing is the limit, and Canadians do not mind their somewhat repressive governments. Even more to the liking of the far left, they can feel comforted that FOX News has actually been banned in Canada. Such has been the case for years. Recently, FOX vied for a cable opening in the country. They were rejected and al jazeera was given the slot.
Liberals have good reason to enjoy this nation. Earlier in the year, Canadians sheltered several deserters from the War in Iraq. In Canada, they lived as rock stars complete with parties and speaking events. In the United States, each deserter would have been sentenced to five years in prison. Recent polls in Canada have even begun to show a rift between Canada in the United States. Culturally, both nations seem heading in opposite directions. America has historically shied away from potentially dangerous policies reflecting the far left. Paul Martin's Canada has lived up to the term "tax and spend liberal."
However, how big is this migration to the nation up north? The CBC also analyzed that in a recent episode of The National. Last year, almost 5,000 Americans moved up North to Canada. During that same time, nearly 12,000 Canadians came to the United States. Many of those Canadians have even been conservatives. Outside the outlandish Canadian media, most Canadians seem to want to work with the United States. Exceeding the Vietnam War era, Canadians have come to America more often than Americans have gone to Canada. Early in the twentieth century, America witnessed an economic boom. At that time, over 900,000 Canadians came to America. Despite the whimpering of the far left, our neighbors to the North still seem to see America as the land of the free and the home of the brave.
One Canadian asked a good question. He wondered if liberals would leave Canada if Canada took a turn to the right. This is not out of question. Liberals like to think of themselves as an underground movement that truly represents worldwide sentiment. These sentiments are shown through books by liberals such as Joe Trippi's The Revolution Will Not be Televised. However, there has been no such revolution in Canada. During the last election, Canadian liberals lost some 60 seats to Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party. Now, with the New Democratic Party, and the Bloc Quebec, liberals only hold a minority government in that nation. It is the first minority government in over a decade.
Canada has not even seemed that willing to acknowledge this movement. Paul Martin has seemed more concerned with re-opening relations with the United States. Martin wants a new trade of beef between America and Canada. He has also proven willing to work with America in forcing Iran to stop seeking Weapons of Mass Destruction. For a liberal, that agenda sounds a bit too pro-American.
It also amazes me that however liberal, Canadians would have respect from fleeing liberals. Just this week, many Canadians glorified the death of Pierre Berton, an opinionative Canadian nationalist who had great pride in his country. When asked in an interview, Berton stated that he could have moved to America. He said he would even have done well, but he did not want to leave his beloved Canada. His books on Canadian history impacted many Canadians, and so did his often brash political opinions. However, he never left Canada.
There is one thing that no one in this world enjoys, and that is desertion. People unwilling to fight for a cause have no right to have the respect of anyone. Liberals may leave for Canada, but they may be disappointed again as Conservatives have gained in Canada. However, they may renounce the red, white, and blue if politics is all that means to them. I must say, Good Riddance!

If Canada is really going to move to the right, I guess the leftists scum will have to move to Mexico. That would be hilarious.
They belong in Canada.
Good Riddance.
If Canada becomes a magnet for our lefties and gays, that's fine with me.
I do feel bad for Canadian conservatives, though. Why don't y'all c'mon down! You're more than welcome.
(P.S. It might be easier if you enter through Mexico).
We could annex Alberta.
Trade Vermont and Bernie Sanders for Alberta.
Wouldn't that be hilarious, Canada going conservative! Wonder if the American leftists will come rushing back to the good ol' USA?
Let 'em all move to the land of high taxes and a poorly run national health care system, it serves 'em right. Bet they'll love paying more for gas, too.
May they experience the true experience of multi-culturalism, as the Dutch are now. May they revel in the mind-destroying boredom of collectivism. With no one to hate at the top, their spineless souls will wither off into oblivion.
May these hippies are are dealth with SHARIAT in THE ISLAMIC CALIPHATE OF CANNUKI-ARABIA.
May these hippies are are dealt with SHARIAT in THE ISLAMIC CALIPHATE OF CANNUKI-ARABIA.
"A nation, I might add, that allows gay marriage, has legalized drugs, authorizes large healthcare, and has skyrocketing taxes." Why leave, we do all those things, right here!
CANADA = Cannuki-Arabia
If the libs want to go to Canada, all I can say is "Good riddance to bad rubbish!"
Unfortunately, the liberals talk about going to Canada, but haven't actually done so thus far.
I don't want them here. We don't need anymore trouble maker.
Reminds me of a young lady that ran with our group who went up there a few years ago to see the Stampede (this was during her drugged-out stage)....she made 'carnal knowledge' friends with half the male population of the entire Territory on that trip, as it turns out....You maybe did a Valley Girl and thought she was a native!
It would be a shorter journey if they just headed a little further north, then south...Russia awaits them.
