As a resident of Alabama, I can say this. GOOD! I hear enough of the inbred, confederate flag waiving comments from my friends back in Texas. I don't want "heart of dixie" on my tag.

I don't think there should be a law against it or anything, I just think this state has a LOOOOOONG way to go to catch up to the rest of the world.

I mean, sure I love the small town invironment. I love being in the Bible belt where teachers don't have to be affraid to say Merry Christmas.

I just don't care too much about bringing up the past. The south lost. Let's get the hell over it.

Unless you're ready to condemn those who wave "old Glory" and laud those who wrote and signed the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, why would you single out those who feel romantically about "Dixie"?

Remember, those who wrote/signed the Constitution did allow the slavery system to continue, despite the fact that many of those men deplored same...and rightfully so.

I could continue along that path, but the point is this:

"Dixie" wasn't perfect and isn't perfect yet. The US wasn't perfect and isn't perfect yet. Ever area has its "warts," but there is a lot to love about the south. Having grown up in Wisconsin, lived in 13 different states, and now settled in for eventual retirement in the Florida panhandle. I love it here, and I'm happy to see people still hold love for "Dixie."

Every time I go to the store some 7 year-old boy runs in front of me, opens the door for me, and says "good morning," (and it happens a lot) I thank God I moved away from Nebraska and live in DIXIE!

You must not travel a lot.

I've traveled a lot in my career and I've seen racism in other areas far worse than in the south. In fact, I know a lot of blacks that would tell you they would much rather live in the south because of this.

I grew up in Alabama and I had never heard the racial comments that I've heard in places like Chicago, NYC, LA, St. Louis, etc.

why don't you GO NORTH, aggie???

you (& WE loyal southrons) will be VERY happy then.

fyi, the LOWEST form of life is the SCALAWAG.

in case you've forgotten, a SCALAWAG is a southernborn, who has turned his/her back on the TRUE CAUSE & is now "progressive on the civil war".

come dixie LIBERTY, you won't enjoy living here, so head north NOW.

free dixie,sw

Not until the Confederates, and the sons of the Confederates, and their sons were dead could the damn yankee carpetbaggers come out to pick the bones of the carcass of the once proud south. You ought to be ashamed to post that garbage over the screen name of Texas Aggie. I don't believe you are a Texas Aggie. A Texas Aggie would kick your ass for running down the South.

There is nothing wrong with having "Heart of Dixie" on a license plate. This merely denotes a geographic region of the US. Many still refer to the South as Dixie (which comes from the French word "DIX"-pronounced deec- which means ten. I can't exactly quote how we got Dixie out of Dix, but I know this is were it originated.) Anyway, if this offends you, you should be more concerned about more local issues, like what was wrong with your daddy's sperm.

I don't think there should be a law against it or anything, I just think this state [Texas A&M University] has a LOOOOOONG way to go to catch up to the rest of the world.

As a Texas resident and naturalized Texan who knows better, I sure look forward to the day that that ignorant "university" up the road gets shut down so that the funds it sucks down can be better applied to more pressing state needs, and those stammering stumblebums who used to attend it can melt back into the woods where they belong.

I just so cannot stand ignorance and lack of native intelligence being so put on display.

Your friends are aggies and that in and of itself shows their worth. Perhaps you need to get some new one who think beyond their high school and college years.

The south lost. Let's get the hell over it

If someone raped and murdered your sister and then your whole family, would you forget it?

I intend never to "forget" it. Especially when these commies continue to treat us like garbage every day.
