MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) The state slogan "Heart of Dixie," a source of pride to some and embarrassment to others, is disappearing from more Alabama license plates every year.
One-third of the groups that promote distinctive and collegiate license plates now choose to leave the slogan off their tags.
The standard state license plate still has "Heart of Dixie," but it's reduced to letters one-sixteenth of an inch high and it's placed in the bottom corner of the tag where it's barely visible to passing motorists.

The two things I need to be is hard working and educated. Education is number one, and laziness is a mortal sin. That is what I was taught in order to be productive. Oh yes and own my own business :-) I can only describe my father's political views to be the right of Archie Bunker. I'm sure that's how I ended up a conservative LOL

As a yankee who moved south - I have to agree with a couple other southerners here - your attitude is a detriment, not helpful in the least.

You brought it upon yourself with your negative commentary regarding Alabama.
Living there, you are within your right to criticize, but at least I moved OUT of Delaware when my crticism of that state reached the level of the vitriole eminating from your keyboard about Alabama.

No, you aren't reading. I am very happy here. I would choose Alabama, out of all the states, to raise my family. But I do have some issues that I would like addressed. That is all. I am tired of hearing the same comments everytime Alabama is mentioned on TV or back in Texas. I am tired of the stereotypical view the rest of the nation has on Alabama. And there are a SMALL few here that perpetuate that view, and I want to help them come up to the 21st century.
