Victim's family testifies before Lee's fate sealed Saturday, December 11, 2004 By Laura Maggi Capital bureau BATON ROUGE -- Convicted killer Derrick Todd Lee was sentenced to death Friday, after the sister of the woman he raped and murdered stood at the front of the courtroom and graphically described the lethal injection procedure, telling him she wants him to "think of the hands of your victims pressing you down" as he is strapped onto the table where he will die.
Leaning forward on a lectern and looking directly at Lee, Sam Pace, the sister of Charlotte Murray Pace, used her victim impact statement to describe to Lee what she had learned during a visit the day before to the execution chamber at Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola.
Her voice cracking, a clearly angry Pace stayed focused on Lee, who looked away. She told him about the drugs that will be injected to paralyze his body, including his lungs, so he won't be able to breathe. And she told him about the heart attack that will be induced by potassium chloride.

victim's impact statement
In twenty years or so, after endless appeals, pointless reviews, possibly a new trial, motions by attorneys, motions by third parties, appeals by the Pope, appeals by Hollywood dimwits like Susan Saranwrap...
"You'll be feeling a bit of discomfort...."
It seems that all of Derrick Todd Lee's victims were great women from wonderful, loving families. He deserves to die and IMHO the sooner the better.
Very moving statement. May God grant this family peace and comfort in their hearts over these tragic and sad holidays
for them.
This is the disgusting part about it-- a multiple murderer clearly guilty with DNA evidence left behind at multiple rape-murder scenes getting to milk the system for another decade or more. These scumbags ought to be given a choice of ending their appeals and getting a relatively quick jab with a needle or being assigned a cell with an overpowering monster who'd one day dispatch them in a more grizzly way with a broom handle, dinner fork or some other object which they managed to get their hands on.
I live about an hour outside of Baton Rouge, and my niece was at LSU during his killing spree, and let me tell yall, this SOB stole the innocence and security of an entire region. People thought they saw the white truck out here on the bayou in Thibodaux, and we all armed up with mace, were afraid to open our doors, etc. One of the victims was abducted from her home a block away from my niece's apartment. That big b@#$%rd made us all live in fear. He didn't just deprive the world of the lives and potential of his victims, he robbed all of us of our sense of security. For that, his life damned well should be forfeit!
Is this the LA serial killer? I must say if it has, I hadn't even heard he'd been caught.
The silver needle is too good for them.
me too.
This was one of them, the second one recently caught was Sean Vincent Gillis, and news reported yesterday of a possible 3rd serial killer still out here killing.
One hopes that during those years on death row he will have the words of these women in his dreams every night.
"...a possible 3rd serial killer still out here killing."
YIKES!
No offense to Peterson victims, families, etc. but this got virtually no national media coverage, with all of these beautiful women killed, the trial lasted about one week, I was there, no national media present, and very scant coverage during his murder spree.

....in 15 or 20 years, maybe.
In the meantime, Derrick, have a couple decades of rent-free living with cable TV and Xbox, on us!!

With all the appeals, the perp may die first of old age.

The Lib trial lawyers are going to do everything they can to wring maximum fees for themselves and impose maximum pain on the victims families trying to save the guilty POS. In the process they will waste resources that could actually help many others who deserve and need it. IMO this is yet another crime against society - This time perpetrated by a justice system run amok. A damned mess!
