Taxpayer-supported Democrat operative Bill Moyers is showing his true colors (all blue) by tainting his exit from PBS with an attack on what he describes as "right-wing media."
"I'm going out telling the story that I think is the biggest story of our time: how the right-wing media has [sic] become a partisan propaganda arm of the Republican National Committee," the Associated Press today quoted Moyers as saying.
"We have an ideological press that's interested in the election of Republicans, and a mainstream press that's interested in the bottom line. Therefore, we don't have a vigilant, independent press whose interest is the American people," claimed Moyers, who next week is leaving his weekly series, "Now."
Moyers failed to mention that, unlike himself, the few conservative media that do exist aren't on the American taxpayers' dole.
He also failed to mention that for decades the left-wing media establishment, ranging from PBS and NPR to the New York Times and the CBS of Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather, has been and continues to be a partisan propaganda arm of the Democratic National Committee.
Perhaps the wire story is satire, but it describes the extraordinarily biased Moyers as "a citizen-journalist" who was on "a truth-telling mission during his three decades as a TV journalist."
The story does admit that "humanist" Moyers used to be a top aide to the very liberal President Lyndon Johnson.
Moyers' liberal rants have been increasing in recent years, perhaps owing to the increasing success of the Republican Party, which now controls the White House, both houses of Congress, the Supreme Court and a majority of state legislatures and governorships.
This past Election Night, Moyers even went so far as to suggest that if Kerry won the election, the right wing might stage a coup to keep him from taking power.
Translation: "Wah! Wah! WAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Good riddance!!! Still haven't forgiven him for his despicable treatment of Goldwater!!
For the life of me I can not figure out WHY it's "ok" to be a part of....or to have Left Wing Media....yet it's NOT "ok" to be a part of, or to have Right Wing Media?
....seems just a tad hypocritical
What can we expect from a man who spent his career having smoke-blowing sit-downs with liberal academics? I've got a couple of collections of his interviews and many of them are great reading, and I have enjoyed some of his interviews over the years. But for someone who's such a suckup to his philosophical soulmates to be crabbing about how the media are merely political mouthpieces is laughable, pathetic, and typical of his kind: the blinkered leftist media tools.
Don't Let the Door hit you on the way out, Bill!
I think he probably didn't understand which one was Kerry and which one was Bush. Kerry was the tall, weird looking, socialist one.
And what are your thoughts on all of the rest, meaning the left wing media including your sorry ex-employer?
He didn't have the nerve to report it before he retired....he didn't want to explain himself in interviews...etc. Liberals can not argue in the arena of ideas.
I understand we can email him with our best wishes at now@thirteen.org . What an appropriate email name.
"This just in. Ice cream has no bones" - Bill Moyers from his padded cell next to Andy Loony
I saw him interviewing some mouthpiece the other night and couldn't stand to watch the propoganda for more than about three minutes. He kept phrasing the questions as if certain blatant liberal distortions were acknowledged fact, and with that as a given would ask the guest "what do you think about such and such?".
Assume Moyers is correct that their is a "right wing branch of the media." What Moyers and the rest of the Alliance of the Arrogant miss is that their branch of the media is the left wing. So long as Moyers, Rather, et. al. continue to act superhuman, i.e. like they have no biases and, even if they did, they would never let those biases seep into their news coverage, they will be blowing in the wind.
"Hey Pot, your black," stateth the Kettle.
Talk about projection! Just substitute "Democrat" for "Republican", "liberal" for "conservative", "left-wing" for "right-wing", and voila! The truth.
Ah yes, PBS . . . where the United States Government and the Exxon Corporation bring you . . . The Pete Seeger Show!!!
PBS is another one of those phenomena (along with the Ivy League and Walter Cronkite) that seems to indicate that the Left really is a front for David Rockefeller (whom Moyers once devoted a program to).
Kat - it's a matter of perspective. Relative to Moyers, there is very little to the left, and a whole lot to the right.
I would bet that he is a millionaire.
Does he wish to pretend the press exists on dandelion thistle and moonbeams? Of course they look at the bottom line.
