Sad News: David Brudnoy Very Ill
WBZ - Boston ^

Posted on 12/08/2004 1:34:49 PM PST by Conservomax

WBZ'S David Brudnoy is saying good-bye to his friends. After living with AIDS for years, David’s cancer, merckle cell carcinoma has spread to his liver and kidneys and his prognosis at Mass General Hospital is not good.

All too often in the news business, its not good news we have to report and this is one of those stories. WBZ's Gary LaPierre had an extended conversation today with a very prominent member of our family here at WBZ, Dr. David Brudnoy.

David Brudnoy asked to have this conversation so that he, a nationally prominent radio talk show host, could say farewell to you... his listening public, his family.

Simply put and to the point, David Brudnoy is looking death straight in the eye today and is saying to his family... his listeners, I’m ready. It was very apparent when I stepped into David’s room at the Mass General today that one of the giant survivors of this sometimes very unforgiving business is talking to his family that’s you... for the last time.

10-years ago I talked to David, a mere skeleton of a man, fighting back from death by full-blown AIDS. This tough guy won.

A little more than a year ago, a deathbed struggle ensues again for David Brudnoy, merkel-cell carcinoma. He launched another 15 round battle with a rare deadly disease and won... until now. David told us today, he's losing this one. I asked him how its different this time.

David "it's gone below the waist. It’s in the liver and kidneys."

While at times, struggling a bit for the breath to speak, David Brudnoy is always, the open book and I couldn't help by ask why, while standing at deaths door he wants to share it all.

David “You go through a couple of days of that… more pain… pointless. No end.”

Gary: “What you are saying to continue would be just to continue your being for a few more days?”

David: “With morphine and a little oxygen and food. I am not starving myself. I am not asking my doctors to do anything illegal. I wish I could but they won't. I will make it through. My head is completely excepting of this. I am absolutely ready.”

David Brudnoy, as only David could do it, gets the chance to say his final farewells to the world.

David: “I think we in the media often times want everybody else to be frank about themselves but want to be covert about ourselves. My life is truly an open book.”

Gary: “It always has been.”

David: “It has been but more so as I contend with these diseases.”

So tonight, he'll be heard in a bed-side interview with WBZ's Gary LaPierre in what will be his final farewell.

All of us here at WBZ have David Brudnoy in our thoughts and prayers today.

I am a results-oriented person.

There is a congregation in San Francisco that packs them in by having religious orgies. I suppose they would agree with your point of view much more than mine.

This is about a man's dying; a man who a lot of Freepers have some feeling for.

It is about a man dying because he chose to have homosexual sex over and over again. He did not tell his partners for at least six years. He was honored by the local Boy Scouts who have a merit badge for diversity and support homosexual scout leaders. He is an avowed atheist.

I think it is probably you who are on the wrong site. DU will honor your hero. Maybe they have a thread going for him too.

My hero said,

"Let he among you who is without sin, cast the first stone."

And I'm sure that you can provide proof for that accusation.

It was in the referenced link. You do know how to read ?

Perhaps you should just crawl back into your hole and let the man die in peace.

He will not die in peace. He will die of AIDS because of his own evil choices. I wonder how many others he infected those six long years.

Do you think your ascerbic attacks on this man advances the pro-family agenda in any way?

I don't think anyone who promotes the homosexual agenda or engages in homosexual sex addiction will ever "advance the pro-family agenda" anymore than Islamic terrorists will agree to live in peace with Jews or Christians.

It is against their nature.

They had committed the same sin they condemned her for so they were not entitled to execute her. It in no way compromised the justice of capital punishment. It only ensured that those who condemn the man or woman to death are not guilty of the same crime.

Since you are willing to cast the first stone, I must assume you are without sin. Bully for you. Most of us know our failings and confess to the Lord.

My opinion on OBL is that he is doing Satan's work, and must be opposed, sought, and either captured or killed, should he not surrender. His soul I leave to God.

Now we understand why the homosexual religion reinterprets the Scriptures in the way you prefer.

What, no deathbed "let him die in peace" thread on FR ?

You are mean spirited and intolerant. You better be careful or some of these open-minded folks are going to tell you off ...

I have sympathy for his innoncent victims, if there are any.

Brudnoy averred that he never engaged in "unsafe sex", so he may simply have been a victim of "experts" who claim to know what's safe.

Brudnoy was the poster boy for "Hate the sin, love the sinner". In his public life he was a man of absolute rectitude, he was open about his sexuality and one could accept it or not. He never apologized and never complained. He was a civil rights activist in the 1950's when it meant something. He was never a hypocrite and never small. And I will miss him and the World is better for his having graced it.

Didn't Paul Sullivan, who is on later in the evening, just have surgery for a brain tumor?

Surprising though it may be, Sullivan does have a brain and yes he did have a tumor removed from it.

I must conclude that you are trying your best to portray Christians as people without compassion. I am done speaking with you. Rant on.

Nonsense. Though, I reckon you have you an annotated Bible / study guide / theology that pumps such bilge.

I'll take "without sin" to be pretty clear - all sin.

To say nothing of, "..judge not, lest ye be judged...for with the same measure that you judge, shall ye be judged..."

Or pretty close, from memory

Do you think your ascerbic attacks on this man advances the pro-family agenda in any way?

Just as some mothers cannot accept the fact that their children become evil, some people will not accept the evil he lived.

"Brudnoy told Reason magazine he got AIDS as the result of oral homosexual sex in the 1980s and was diagnosed with AIDS in 1988. He kept the news to himself until he collapsed in 1994 ..."

How many partners did he have for those 6 years ?

Which explains why you are unable to cast a stone against Osama Bin Laden unless you abandon your interpretation
