Has there been a witness yet who has pointed out that the margin of victory for the President was grossly understated in Ohio, because look at the huge margin for the anti-gay-marriage-and-civil-unions Constitutional Amendment received and we ALL KNOW that only radical right-wing Bible-thumping Bushbots supported it?

This punk kid is complaining about having to stand for hours in a gymnasium line? Our country is raising a generation of lazy, liberals that just want bitch and gripe.

OOPS, not totally true, I just remembered the 20-25 year olds in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting for the rights of the brat that was just on!!! My mistake, GoD Bless the Troops.

Rep. Wexler up. He's troubled by the advent of the electronic machines.

This is the hardest I've laughed in days.

If they were voting at 10:30pm, their vote shouldn't count.

He's actually saying that people tried to vote for Kerry but couldn't because Bush's name came up? Did I hear that correctly?

Wexler just said that nobody who voted for Bush had any problems voting.

Now, class, what can we deduce from that?????

The situation at Kenyon College was pretty bad. They had only two machines for a college of 1600 students. The last vote was cast at 3:40 am. So they do have a legitimate beef -- but to suggest it altered the result is just ignorant.

He's troubled by the advent of the electronic machines.

I'm baffled why he would be troubled. His party lobbied for the damn things in the aftermath of Florida 2000.

Dear Colleague that went out to all members of the House last week.

Preserving Democracy – What Went Wrong in Ohio?

Please Join us in a Forum on Ohio Voting Irregularities

December 3, 2004

Dear Colleague:

Please join us in holding a forum on election irregularities in Ohio, the pivotal state in the 2004 presidential election. The forum will include leading advocates, election experts and investigators who have reviewed the myriad of election day and recount problems in Ohio, as well as numerous individuals who experienced problems and outright disenfranchisement on election day.

The forum will be held on Wednesday, December 8, at 10:00 am in 2237 Rayburn House Office Building. Participants will include the following:

Rev. Jesse Jackson, Founder Rainbow Push Coalition

Ralph Neas, President, People For the American Way

Jon Greenbaum, Director, Voting Rights Project, Lawyers Committee For Civil Rights Under Law

Ellie Smeal, Executive Director, The Feminist Majority

Prof. Robert Fitrakis, Editor, The Free Press

Cliff Arnebeck, Arnebeck Associates

John Bonifaz, General Counsel, National Voting Institute

Steve Rosenfeld, Senior Producer, Air America Radio

Shawnta Walcott, Communications Director, Zogby International

In addition, we have invited Kenneth Blackwell, Ohio Secretary of State, and Warren Mitofsky of Mitofsky International, the Coordinator of the National Exit Poll to participate in the forum.

This will be an important event that will help the Members and public understand the continuing controversies surrounding the Ohio vote and recount process and consider remedies for addressing these issues in the future.

If you would like to participate, or if you have any questions concerning the forum, please contact Michone Johnson (x56906) of the House Judiciary Democratic Staff. Staff is welcome to attend the forum as well.

Sincerely,

John Conyers, Jr. Robert C. Scott Melvin L. Watt

We had early voting here - so that the actual day of the vote was less crowded than expected. But on early voting day the lines were hours long and people just calmly stood in line and waited their turn despite the weather (yes it rained at least one of those early voting days). Rain nor heat drove people away......and it was glorious to see so many people in line to vote. NOT HORRIBLE - GLORIOUS - but we need somebody on this panel to refute this garbage because there are so many brainless people out there who listen but do not think.

Oh this is rich, Wexler is bitching about e-voting machines. this is from his website:

http://www.wexler.house.gov/Issues_ElectionReform.htm

Election Reform

Congress must ensure that the American election system is the most accurate and fair in the world; on Election Day 2000, it was not. Thousands of Floridians lost their right to vote because of a breakdown in our electoral system, a misleading and confusing ballot, and a tragic decision by the US Supreme Court that put politics above the Constitution. Fixing the election system in America must continue to be a top national priority. Our goal must be to count votes -- not suppress them -- to open the system to all voters -- not intimidate them. We must commit the money, resources, and energy to fix our election process once and for all.

Since November 2000, election procedures in Florida have been revolutionized with many of our counties using electronic touch-screen voting machines. I have strongly favored replacing punch-card balloting with this new technology. I am pleased that Congress passed the Help America Vote Act (Public Law 107-252), which is providing an infusion of $650 million of election assistance money to the states. (Florida's share is $26 million).

Exactly.

A moderate friend of mine noted recently that leftists have long, greasy hair and don't dress well. That observation has held true at this hearing.
