Pharmacists are more ethical than priests, teachers beat judges in honesty and no one is less trustworthy than car salesmen, according to the annual Gallup survey of professions.Nurses were named the most ethical and honest professionals a position they've held for five out of the past six years. In 2001 they were beaten by firefighters after the Sept. 11 attacks. This year, grade-school teachers came in second, at 73 percent, receiving higher marks than their high-school counterparts.
[snip]
Police and military officers scored high.
The lowest ranked included lawyers, politicians, reporters and people in advertising.
But nobody sank lower than car salesmen, who were considered highly honest only by nine percent of the people surveyed.
Only one-quarter of Americans gave high ethical scores to local and state elected officials.

I do'nt get no respect....I can't help it if they keep buying Yugo's from me!.....
I have a hunch that Saturn car salesmen would probably score half a point higher than the rest of their profession, due to the lack of haggling.

Teachers scored to high when you see how they try and mold minds to their political views. I'd have had them well down on my list.
Maybe so, I really don't know but from what I've seen through friends, that's where it ends for Saturn. The "Service" department is exactly as unreliable as any other car make.
"I have a hunch that Saturn car salesmen would probably score half a point higher than the rest of their profession, due to the lack of haggling."
I'm not sure what the 'lack of haggling' has to do with it. You do realize that you can buy a car at any dealership without 'haggling'?
Ditto. I despise teachers...at least used car salesmen keep their politcial agenda to themselves, as a general rule.
The real is that the media is hiding Reporters in this story. One local CBS 5:00 news showed the data but left out that reports are below car sales. More bias alert.
I work in a hospital and I was not polled.....
"My Johnny can'r read or do his times tables, but Ms. Crabtree makes him feel good about himself!"
Methinks this poll was dominated by ditzy broads.
Who does Clemenza respect the most: ENTREPRENEURS.
I actually like the haggling.
I'm a real pest, getting bids from four or five different dealers and playing one off against the other for weeks. I always car shop in December when they are trying to meet their yearly quota, and I'm never afraid to laugh in a guy's face and walk out the door.
I never finance, lease or trade in other cars, so they have no opportunity to finagle me. I just beat the hell out of them on bottom-line cash-on-the-barrelhead price. For most makes and models, you can get 10% off sticker price with minimal effort, and I have received discounts as high as 20% on certain models.
