I just wish those on the far right side of the issue could admit racism is also a factor.

I admit it's about race: George Bush has not visited a non-hispanic country and promised them that he would take care of their ex-patriots the way he has all of South America.

Dubya will explain his reasons for opposing the physical removal of 15 million hard working and decent people from their families, friends, nieghbors, and businesses and communities that rely on them. I suspect that he shares my belief that doing so would be increadibly self-destructive to our economy and cruel. When Dubya explains what he thinks a majority will agree with him.

So we get to pick and choose which laws to enforce and reward those that break immigration laws and punish those that break other laws?

What about the 15 million legal residents/citizens that have to compete with the illegals for the same jobs? Supply and demand, without the illegals employers would have to pay the legal residents more money. By not enforcing the immigration laws are those people not being damaged?

What about the billions of dollars taxpayers like myself have to pay for services to illegals? I would be better off paying more for services upfront at time of purchase than having the cost hidden in my taxes.

What is self destructive and cruel is what we are doing to our country not what should happen to these ILLEGALS, which is send them back home and charge them for services they have used. These people weren't kidnapped and dragged here, they came of their own free will and should be arrested and dragged back. Where is your bleeding heart for the legal residents and taxpayers? They are the real victims of illegal immigration. Let 15 million illegal doctors, lawyers and accountants into the US and lower their incomes because of a large supply and see how fast the legal ones scream.

A majority of over 60% already disagree with you and Dubya, and putting icing on a piece of garbage doesn't make it more palatable. Trying to turn an argument into something racist is a typical liberal ploy, I suggest you stick to the issue which has nothing to do with racism, other than that the majority of those injured most by illegal immigration are minorities, therefore using your arguement, allowing amnesty would be racist...hmmm...

Please turn on Cspan2. Jim Inhofe is getting to the root of some of those provisions left out of this intelligence bill.

Found it online. Dear god, the Dems are adopting a platform calling for more secure borders.

Bush has walked into quicksand on this one.

The devil is in the details.

The bill only authorizes a 10,000 increase in Border Patrol Agents, it does not provide funding. Back in the 1980s congress would authorize a 1,000 increase in Border Patrol Agents each year, and each year they would fail to provide funding. They could go back to their districts and claim they support border enforcement and no one in the MSM would call them on it.

I think what is going on here is classic triangulation. Congress is going to get their border security provisions passed but they will have to give Bush his guest worker program to do it. Bush can live with the security provisions so long as he passes the guest worker program which will be promoted that it enhances overall border security. In some ways it will.

The dems will be in an impossible position, if they go against the legislation they will appear either week on border security or anti immigrant, take your pick.

If after reading this piece there is still anyone believing that we do not need to overhaul our immigration laws and the ability to obtain official documents isn't playing with a full deck and/or is an anti-American terrorist supporting pervert. Utterly frigging amazing.

The Senate is voting now. Inhofe voted against it!

After McCain praised Collins/Lieberman he reminded us how badly we need illegals to do the work we won't. Then insisted we do immigration reform soon. I'll transcribe quotes later if I get a chance.

So far, he's been a man of his word. If he's vowing to do something about it, I believe he will.

It's refreshing, in this day and age, to have that kind of confidence in an elected official.

I suspect that he shares my belief that doing so would be increadibly self-destructive to our economy and cruel. When Dubya explains what he thinks a majority will agree with him.

Here in the liberal S.F. Bay Area, the local news stations tried two or three times over the course of a few weeks to show us sob stories about poor immigrant families who because of a few "technicalities" in regard to the law were being sent back to their homelands after 12 or 15 years here. I notice that they've dropped those stories. I don't think it brought the public outcry they were hoping for, or it may have actually brought a flood of comments of relief and rejoicing that finally an immigration law was being enforced.

I'm sure you didn't mean to portray yourself in a negative manner, and you may not be aware of how your words can be read, but when you equate 15 million people with cancer...some people might call that a blatently racist remark. I wouldn't say that, but others might. Fortunately we have been living with the cancer of immigration for over 200 years...a couple months doesn't seem so long when you are familiar with 3rd grade American history.

You seem to be the one blinded by race. The 15 million LAWBREAKERS who receive special protection from laws that LEGAL immigrants and native-born Americans must obey are cancer because their disregard for the law is undermining our very existence as a land ruled by law where all people are equal before the law.

You are obviously a goofy fantatic with a messianic twist. They can leave and go back to their countries of origin and work hard there and do so without violating our laws. Now as far as you dropping that "racist" BS that is where you really showed your cards and that you want more than anything in the world is to live in some made up fantasy land and play make believe like a liberal (a make believe god). So stow that "racist" crap and grow up and face reality.

Some local businessmen say that over the last two decades the neighborhood has increasingly become a gathering spot for illegal aliens.

They can't possibly know if the people congregating are illegals. They only know they look different. Tancredo is anti-American, he voted against a bill that improves American security because of his agenda against Mexicans.

I keep taking it in the rear.

But they're telling me they're sorry, and it won't happen again...beginning to feel like an abused wife.

I'll believe it when I see it.

It's a great bill.

If you enjoy increasing the size of the Fed...and doing not much else of substance.

This is simply restructuring of the existing entities...and adding a buttload of new offices, personnel, equipment. Not in the field.....more office pukes.

And 10,000 a day still cross...the border patrol is forbidden from doing their jobs, and the police department can't enforce public safety laws.

Yeah, great bill.
