Here are close up pictures of the LaSalle Bank building, from the Post Office on Dearborn, taken at about 9PM central

I realized that more helicopters were starting to show up, but not near the LaSalle Building. There were at least 5 helicopters clearly and systematically searching buildings and terrain south of Adams, both east and west.

Read your blog. As for the helicopters there were many in the skies from the news agencies who kept moving north and south to try to get a better picture of the fire. They had enforced a 1-mile radius no fly zone.
I also don't know how many helicopters are owned by the FD, but they were instrumental during this fire in providing light and such to the firefighters on scene.
I think the reporters on scene would have mentioned something if there was a "search" of the sort you are describing in your blog.
OK, now I'm really going to sleep. (o;

Weren't these the news copters? They were being kept back more than a 1/2 mile from the building. I was monitoring at least 3 of the news choppers scanner freqs that were there and this looks like the area they were reporting from.
