how many people waiting to vote in florida were gunned down by AK47s and car bombs? if you don't think that is going to happen on election day in iraq, you are mistaken. absent some quick turnaround in the security situation there, it will.
I would say go forward with this election, if you could convince me that time wouldn't help solve this problem. But indeed, time is what we need to kill more insurgents, train more iraqi police and get the ones on the job now to actually start shooting back, etc. how many people a re you willing to see die to hold the election on 1/30?

Require at least one member of each family to come to the poll with an AK-47, SKS, G-3 or whatever. It hasn't been that long since bringing your arms to the poll was a requirement in Switzerland. It also tends to discourage the odd Jihadie.

As I recall, there were several incidents of violence in Afghanistan against people trying to register to vote. What happened? They showed up the next day in even greater numbers! I have no doubt that there may be acts of terrorism by the Islamofasist, because if the elections are held, their days are numbered. Whatever government is elected into power will make it their first priority to wipe out all "insurgents" for the sake of Iraqi stability, and the people will be much more willing to follow a leader they elected. To postpone the elections will be pandering to the terrorist, and that is EXACTLY what they want.....

Problem would be that as soon as they were postoned, the terrorists would claim victory, saying that the US had never intended to hold elections and that the Iraq government could not get popular support for democracy...and too many in the Middle East would agree (sad), and far too many in Europe would agree (sadder), and that many in the US--including the MSM--would also agree with the terrorists (saddest)
