Saturday, the president, Dick Cheney, Colin Powell, Donald Rumsfeld and Condi Rice met with Pakistan's President Musharraf at the White House. Bush said, "We discussed international politics. I assured President Musharraf that there is an opportunity at hand to work toward the development of a Palestinian state and peace in the Middle East." He gave his radio address, saying, "We must do everything necessary to confront and defeat the terrorist threat, and that includes intelligence reform. By remaining focused and determined in these efforts, we will strengthen the safety of our citizens and defend our nation from harm." Vice President Dick Cheney will lead the US delegation to Afghan President Hamid Karzai's December 7 inauguration, the White House announced. The president went to the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia.
Sunday, the First Couple went to St. John's Church in DC. He presented awards at the 27th annual national celebration of the arts.
Monday: On an international level, Bush met with Iraqi interim President Ghazi al-Yawar; Jordan's King Abdullah II; and Senegal's President Abdoulaye Wade. On the national scene, he met with Dennis Hastert and Tom DeLay from the House of Representatives, and Senator Bill Frist, on Bush's proposal to overhaul Social Security. Laura Bush hosted Viviane Wade, wife of President Abdoulaye Wade of Senegal, for tea. The First Couple enjoyed time with some of our youngest citizens with a Children's Christmas reception and program in the East Room of the White House.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!
I agree. But then, they don't call 'em 'Dims' for nothing.
Barney, the red-nosed scottie
Move over Rudolph. It's time for Barney, the first dog, to play Christmas hero. In the latest White House website story about President Bush 's scottie, webmeister Jimmy Orr is considering several scenarios in which the pooch saves the day. The top story line: Barney takes Air Force One to retrieve first lady Laura Bush 's new puppy, Miss Beazley, from obedience school. Another idea: Rudolph and Santa Claus can't make their deliveries, so Barney comes to the rescue of Christmas. The tale will be the fourth installment of "Barney Cam," in which the dog wears a webcam to record his story. It will also be Orr's last creation for the trendsetting site before he moves on. During his three-year tenure, Orr helped boost daily hits on the White House site from 1 million to over 20 million by adding new content like "Ask the White House." Says Orr: "Through the Internet, people can personally interact with the White House. Our interactive features and unique video content, like our Barney Cam, are important because it humanizes government." With some deserved bragging, he adds: "We really moved the ball downfield."
Hi Gretchen.
HOpe you had a great weekend; thanks in advance for the pictures (my computer is sssllloooowwww)
Good on ya Dame Joan.
I bet the little Crawford post office is kind of overwhelmed by all the cards that are sent out. Our PO is only open 5 1/2 hrs a day M-F and 1 1/2 hrs. on Sat. Crawford is smaller, so maybe open even less hours. Nevertheless, I'm so glad you got your card!
Just makes my heart sing and my heart didn't grow up singing.
Cheers, Scott
Prayers for good test results for your dad!
Has the new medication started helping your mum?
HI--love your tagline! Me, too!
WHY do all the "stars" (whether actors, musicians, or just famous) think they know soooooo much more than the Pres. and all the specially trained, highly educated people in the administration, who are privy to ALL the information?!!?!?
Aren't those pictures something, Brasil! The first couple on the cover and in a couple other of the 8 and a half x 11 glossies, and GWB working on AF1, and with the T-ball kids, and close up in his white hat, and......okay, I'll stop! ;-)
OH, NO--THE RETURN OF THE USELESS, FUNNY COLORED, MISPLACED BOW ON LAURA'S OTHERWISE BEAUTIFUL DRESS! LET'S NOT START THAT AGAIN! (sorry for yelling, but the "time of the bows" last year was a black period in the dress of the First Lady . . . )
***And have you noticed that Condi Rice already looks.....PRESIDENTIAL?!***
She looks absolutely beautiful in those pictures!
Looks like she's recovered quickly from her surgery.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but it is very dangerous to consider what a "star" thinks as gospel. And we all know how irrepsonsible the mainstream media is in this respect! People who cannot think for themselves will perhaps take on what their fave popstar/actor believes in?
I am a big fan of Elton John - of his music. Again he is entitled to his opinion; but that doesn't stop me from listening to his wonderful music even though I disagree sometimes with his opinions.
end of rant....LOL
WELCOME!
This site has got the bet the happiest place on the web." Guaranteed to make you smile. Hope to see you here often.
I still haven't gotten mine, but I know I will.
There is something about the Pacific that is so compelling
I so agree. I live less than 3 miles from the harbor
downtown San Diego. In front of my apt bldg looking
south I can see part of the bay near the shipyard.
Tomorrow President Bush will be in San Diego. He will
land at Marine air base Marimar and then chopper up to
Camp Pendleton.
We have over 19,000 marines in Iraq. Today several
ships with 6,000 marines and choppers left the harbor.
On a quiet Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, more than 2,400 Americans were killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor. On that day, life changed in America, and the course of history was altered forever.
I remember that day. Our family sat around the radio listening to FDR give his speech. My Dad and my uncles were World War I vets. World War I was terrible and they knew what was coming. Then the radio was turned off and nobody spoke for quite a while.
A poignant memory, I'm sure. There are many generations that have been absorbed with protecting our precious land ... now, it's our turn.
Excellent choice for first pic!!!
I received my White House Christmas card on December 1st and again on December 2nd!!
