Liberal Elitism (and Worse) Gets Noticed -- Suddenly, It's a Phenomenon!
Around the Net | Mostly today | VArious, compiled by TBP

Sudenly, there is an explosion of media about the dark side of liberalism, exposing their down-the-nose, arrogant elitism and worse.

The American Conservative magazine today exposes the elitism of liberals:

"Babbittry is the idea that the average Joe lives within the passionless routine of marriage, the tyranny of consumerism, and the regimentation of small-town civic life. Babbittry judges Joe to live in a benighted, blinkered spiritual state, a gay-bashing, beer-drinking redneck whose Taliban tendencies want to ban dancing, rock-and-roll, and R-rated movies. People who don’t live in New York, Hollywood, or divide their time between Virginia, Hyannis Port, or Nantucket estates and their Georgetown mansions view the rest of us as Babbitts. Who can blame them? When was the last time, say, Tina Brown, spoke with anyone not famous? (Not for at least 30 years, since she was an unknown Jewish girl sucking up to Oxford Dons and Fleet Street journalists.)"

Then there is the always funny and ever reliable "Mallard Fillmore" today:

Thern there's this in today's Washington Times quoted from CNSNews.com:

" Marc Morano, senior staff writer at CNSNews.com, was at the National Press Club to hear an MIT meteorologist actually dismiss alarmist fears about human-induced global warming as nothing more than "religious beliefs."

"Do you believe in global warming? That is a religious question. So is the second part: Are you a skeptic or a believer?" said Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Richard Lindzen.

"Essentially, if whatever you are told is alleged to be supported by 'all scientists,' you don't have to understand [the issue] anymore. You simply go back to treating it as a matter of religious belief," said Mr. Lindzen, in a speech appropriately titled, "Climate Alarmism: The Misuse of 'Science.' "

Dems' new Senate leader criticizes Justice Thomas

Incoming Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid on Sunday had harsh words for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

When asked to comment on Thomas as a possible replacement for Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Reid told NBC's "Meet the Press": "I think that he has been an embarrassment to the Supreme Court.

"I think that his opinions are poorly written. I just don't think that he's done a good job as a Supreme Court justice."

I think it has been particularly horrid this time around because the Democrats too pandered to the Anybody But Bush crowd and they are suffering from the severe disappointment of President Bush's victory. Small wonder why there are too many people suffering from Post-Election Selection Trauma lately.

Marriage isn't passionless. Lol. It may be a lot of things, but it AIN'T passionless.

Only the young and/or dumb fools who have holes in their ego are tyrannized by consumerism.

Small-town civic life isn't NEARLY so regimented as big city politics, laws, rules, traffic, parking, street closures, congestion and taxes. The big-city politicos run the big cities like despots. They pick our pockets and tax the HOLY PIE outta us. We have TO PAY for the bums, drunks, prostitutes, drug dealers and welfare people who simply refuse to work. Seventy percent of the college tuitions are picked up by taxpayers...so the students can take 8 years to finish a degree that took me 4 years. Yeah, yeah, I worked full time too.

Beer-drinking rednecks LOVE to dance. They wouldn't BAN it. They wouldn't ban rock & roll- they LOVE it. They wouldn't even ban (C)rap....which they ought to do.

If they would ban some R-rated movies, that would be nice....speaking of CRAP.

Taliban tendencies? Another load. Those rednecks are the backbone of the Marines, military...the backbone of our country. Yee-hah!

Liberals are such nice people, aren't they? So full of...oh, never mind.

You seem to have gotten it right. Thanks for the Mallard Fillmore. For those that care, Chris Muir's Day By Day is back:

Liberal HATE and bigotry is finally being exposed!! And it's LONG overdue!!!

The DNC is collapsing, and some of the smarter "Old Media" outlets see the handwriting on the wall with Fox News and other media outlets. If they don't get on board and try to appeal to more conservative Americans, they're going to be looking for handouts in the unemployement line :)

I think Bruce Tinsley ("Mallard Fillmore") got it right this morning: "For a bunch of people who say they 'celebrate diversity and tolerance', these liberals do a darn good bigot impression."

Liberals have the wonderful life, don't they? That's why the pseudo-therapy business is profiting so well.

"Post-Election Selection Trauma"

I am not liking the use of the word "Selection" in this oh so liberal condition of man they have created here.

Is there more to the use than an attempt to perpetuate the fallacy of "illegitimate" on the Bush Presidency?

I am a stress management counselor in my spare time. I named this phenomena "Post Election Stress Disorder."

People really are stressed out because of this. Think about the last two months leading up to the election, where you came to this site 400 times a day looking for information. Think about your stress. I know I had it. Think about the last year when everyone was hammering W. Was pretty stressful for us Republicans. We were able to deal with it better because for us there was an end to justify the means. W is back in the White House and we have breathed a collective sigh of relief.

The Democrats, on the other hand, had to deal with Florida 2000 and now 2004. It is a given, they brought this upon themselves with their abject hatred for the President. This hatred and anger is for no other reason than the DNC and left wing groups fomented this and people bought into it.

Now they have nowhere to turn to rid themselves of this stress. Again, we did because we came to the end of the tunnel and the light was four more years. All the Dems see is an oncoming train and they cannot get out of the way.

IMHO...

I'm just trying to figure out "what group" is the Democratic
base. I recently read an article regarding they had forsaken their base and let the liberals take over. I have no clue who the base would be. Aren't they a hodge-podge of different loser groups like Peta, abortionists, greens, atheists, homosexuals, communists, socialists, anti-war, etc. ?

Many liberals, I think, really believe that small town folks are like the people in "Footloose" or "The Gift." Suburban people are just like those in "American Beauty." The fact that these are JUST MOVIES completely escapes some people.

Lol. So true.

The latest is the PEST group, post elestion stress syndrome--liberals going to therapy to help them recuperate from Bush's win. They have screaming sessions. It sounds like a hoot. Rush was talking about that this morning.

I think that is why Hollywood and the Democrat Party are so close. They LIKE dealing with make-believe.
Hollywood makes money on shoveling out the illusions, some good, mostly garbage.
The Democtats have nothing substantive to say about anything so they MUST deal in the unsubstantive, make-believe, rhetoric, race-baiting, Christian-bashing, victimization-mongerling...nothing substantive.

I heard Gingrinch make an interesting point on O'Reilly today. He was saying that America is a COVENANT based democracy, where we have certain unalienable rights endowed to us by our Creator. Ww willingly give up some of those things to those who would govern us. It's a COVENANT.

Socialism has a CONTRACT-based government, a simple social agreement, with nothing God-given, no unalienable rights, quid pro quo. The Democrats would take us down this socialist-contract path, like it is in Europe now. A godless socialism. Talk about a depressing future.
It was an interesting concept. I hadn't heard those concepts for many decades.

Our whole system of self-government, defined beginning with the Declaration of Independence is based on the writings of John Locke.

Locke wrote of natural law, that is, that we as people are endowed by the creator with the rights to life, liberty, and property (slightly modified in the Delcaration of Independence to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness).

This means that these are not rights the government gives to us, they are endowed by God, and no government has the right to take any of them away. Thus, the government is simply being given the privledge to protect the people's life, liberty, and property.

Mind blowing concept to the RATs...they think freedom comes from government!
