McCain suffers Rummy trouble
New York Daily News ^ | 12/06/04 | James Gordon Meek

WASHINGTON - Sen. John McCain will work with Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld but said yesterday he has no confidence in him.

"I want to work with him," the Arizona Republican told "Fox News Sunday."

That isn't a vote of confidence, observed the show's host, Chris Wallace.

"No, it's not," the maverick Republican agreed.

McCain, a former Vietnam prisoner of war who sits on the Senate Armed Services Committee, has been critical of Rumsfeld for not putting more troops in to secure Iraq after toppling dictator Saddam Hussein.

He has also faulted Rumsfeld for failing to stop abuses at Abu Ghraib Prison.

But Rumsfeld appears glued to his cabinet seat for at least another year, and the Arizona lawmaker said he "respected" President Bush's decision to keep his Pentagon chief in place.

I wish RINO McCain would go and hide somewhere.

Between campaign finance reform, his bizarre obsession with regulating baseball, and now this... he's beyond worthless.

When you have no purpose and sense of worth, you have to attempt to create one I suppose.

WTH does he mean "he wants to work with him!"

Maybe he should go work with himself for a while...

A long, slow marinading can do wonders with tainted meat. But if all else fails, you just boil it for days and cook it down into broth.

I agree. He's a pain in the ass. If he wants to "work" with Rummy, then Rummy should put the jack-ass in a straight jacket and send him home to tan in the sunshine of sunny AZ. The idiot ranks with AlGore, Slick, Feinstein, Boxer, Sharpton, and ... These people never STFU. Too bad they could not get a job in the commercial sector of the economy and DO something other than suck their salaries from the American public and spill their hypocritical spew.

One thing I have observed about McCain is that one can depend on him....to undermine the President in one form or another...after all Rumsfield is the President's choice for Secy of Defense...

He did support the President during the election but he allowed the Kerry flirtation go on far too long for me to trust him ever again.

US Sen Johnnie "No Brain" McCain (RINO-AZ) is a waste of space and time. Why do the AZ idiots keep bringing that liberal buttwiper back?

As I have said before, MeCain is quickly becoming the Republican's Jesse Jackson. John McCain really wasn't the hero that so many of our other Navy fliers were. I think that he had only flown 2 missions before being shot down and captured. There are tons of real hero's that have not gotten a single minute of air time, nor do they want it.

I believe that McCain wanted Rummy's job and is once again spouting sour grapes. Obviously he has not learned that a person will get a whole lot further using honey, rather than vinegar.

I must have missed the recent history where McCain was elected President! Secretary Rumsfeld works for the President, Senator McCain, not you! What a megalomaniac: he wants to run the DoD, is largely responsible for the abomination McCain-Feingold, and wants to regulate baseball too!
