Frist calls for review of abstinence-only programs (a cave-in to nosehair Waxman?)
KVIA ^ | Dec 4 04 | KVIA

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is calling for a review of federally funded sexual abstinence programs.

The Tennessee Republican told A-B-C's "This Week" program that federal officials should look into allegations that the programs give students false and misleading medical information.

California Democratic Congressman Henry Waxman says the programs give out false information about condoms and the effects of abortion. He also accuses the programs of blurring science and religion and getting fundamental scientific facts wrong.

Frist, who's a doctor, didn't directly address the issues raised. But he says the programs should be reviewed.

Anyone think to check that the bogus info in the program(s) material might have been planted by the pro-condom-on-a-cucumber folks just to make the A/O programs look bad ?? It wouldn't be the first time... (Just read the first 50 pages of any 8th graders' history book for a clue)

I was watching the cable news story on this earlier this past week. It turns out some liberal special interest group found a series of mistakes in the abstinance education curriculum. They tried to make the point that the abstinence education was unscientific and false. An example: masturbation can lead to pregnancy.

However, on closer examination, you see something else. It becomes almost a case study on how the liberals can distort an issue.

They found about a dozen instances of unscientific teaching in the entire curriculum. These dozen instances were found in about 100,000 pages of curriculum material throughout the US. A dozen instances in 100,000 pages.

However, all that was reported was the dozen instances. Not the context. Not the fact that is was such a small fraction.

Two simple conclusions:

1. Yes, abstinence education could be improved, as can every other human endeavor.

2. Abstinence education is excellent if all they can find is a dozen mistakes or so.

Dumbass reporter. Waxman didn't offer any specifics so how could Frist address anything? Damn, these people are stupid.

All Fed-funded programs should be reviewed, not just the abstinence programs. It is part of fiscal responsibility to do so.

How about different classes for different preferences?

It's called school vouchers.

Makes perfect sense.

However, it won't happen because the real issue is control over education. And the libs are not about to give that up easily.

If kids are engaging in mutual masturbation without condoms, they are still at risk of diseases and yes pregnancy if they are getting semen on their hands.

It all depends on what they do with those hands afterwards.

Think that is an extreme example? There was a girl in Houston last year who made local news when she and he friends had sex in a car. The couple in back shared a condom and told them to turn it inside out. Of course she got pregnant by the other guy...

Do condoms prevent AIDS and other STD's effectively ? The conventional answer is yes. The truth, according to the FDA, is "No they don't". In its publication "Consumer-Friendly Birth Control Information" the FDA reports the "typical" rate of failure for a condom in pregnancy prevention is 14%.

By an amazing coincidence the rate of failure when playing Russian Roulette is 16%. So if in your sexual exploits you happen to encounter a partner that is infected you have about the same safety having sex with them using a condom as you do sitting around in the evening playing Russian roulette.

Granted they are measuring pregnancy not STD transmission. It doesn't seem like a quantum leap though to figure out that STDs transferred via bodily fluid will see the same failure rates as pregnancy at a minimum. In fact it is easier to contract the Aids virus via intercourse than it is to get a woman pregnant. After all you don't have to hit the magic egg just transfer the virus.

So in all likelihood you are safer sitting around playing Russian roulette with your date than you are having sex.

Why then is there a strong resistance to teaching our children that abstinence is the best and safest way to prevent pregnancy and STD's. Why do our schools insist on teaching that using a condom is safe sex.

Would Americans tolerate teaching our kids that playing Russian roulette is an OK way to spend recess ? No way in the world. Instructing the kids that way would in all likelihood be a criminal act.

The only responsible thing is teach the kids that condoms are safer than not using them. However your best bet is avoiding people who are infected in the first place. Should you encounter a partner who is infected without a condom you have a 100% chance of contracting the infection. With a condom you have a 14% chance of contracting the infection.

Sex education - not a proper concern of the federal government.

Support of gays pushed in schools (Posted on 11/30/2004)

Hundreds of students opted out of the tolerance training video, and another 324 students did not show up for school the day it was shown. The ACLU has threatened to file for a court order to enforce attendance.

Joseph Platt, a Cincinnati lawyer representing parents, said "mandatory training on tolerance for homosexuals violates the right of conscience of parents and students who believe such behavior immoral."

Socialists love social engineering. Especially using the schools to indoctrinate new voters. From the womb to the tomb, they want to own you.

You know, I have to kindly disagree with you, when you have "that type of thing" blown up in your face, Sex doesn't seem quite so harmless.

I mean, at least one kid in your school had to be shocked.

I feel your approach is this modern attitude that the "Kids are going to do it anyway." Of course, there are always some kids who are always going to do some things anyway. But that number can be reduced.
There is an invisible line called "The Standard." Some people reach the standard, some go beyond it and some just below it. And it's really always been that way. But when the standard is lowered for the ones who don't quite reach it, theres a identical effect on the ones who reach it. They get lowered, and the ones who go beyond it, they lower themselves too. Please have a little more faith.......

There are plenty of those films around (and that type dates back to WWII at least). The CDC also used to contact your partners saying that they should get tested because they may be infected (doctors would not reveal "who" was infected but did ask for the names of anyone who the patient had sex with).

AIDS is a politically correct STD and such information is just not shared.

There is a reason that abortion advocates are against people seeing the "non-viable tissue" that is removed. It betrays their statements that it is not a baby.

Sometimes a picture really does tell 1,000 words.

The antiwar movement has pushed for any and all images of US military abuses in Iraq as well as images of dead US troops.

By converse, we STILL have not seen photos of dead bodies from the 9-11-2001 attacks. Did ANYONE really die that day?

Out of sight, out of mind rings true.

At least the "equal time" for exposure of images of infected genitals and mouth sores would counter porn's plastic surgery models and prostitutes.

Funny how the porn world engaged in ABSTINENCE (production was shut down) when they waited for some AIDS test results this year.

Every time I see that man I think of a weed whacker.

Nope. I have a better solution. Home remedy Rx for this condition. It really works!

One .22 bronze brush on a 17" Klean-Bore and swipes impregnated with Hoppe's #9 passed from ear to ear.

Followed by one pint of Drano siphoned into each ear canal.

Followed by a small does of liquid gel napalm inserted into each nostril and ignited by a Zippo.

If necessary, wash and rinse, and repeat as necessary.

Works every time I've used this recipe for nose-hair removal.
