Comedian Rich Little to visit U.S. servicemembers in Europe (WTG USO)
Stars and Stripes ^ | December 5, 2004 | Stars and Stripes

Posted on 12/05/2004 9:29:46 AM PST by Former Military Chick

Kermit the Frog will be saying, “Hello, everybody,” while Arnold Schwarzenegger gets pumped up, and Jack Nicholson goes nuts during a USO tour at U.S. military bases in Italy and Turkey.

Not really, but it will seem that way.

Long-standing master impressionist Rich Little, best known for his acts of movie stars and presidents in the 1960s, will be duping troops with his latest acts Dec. 8-15.

Little will entertain servicemembers during his visit to three bases in Italy and Turkey, aboard an aircraft carrier off the coast of Italy, and during scheduled autograph signings.

During his tour, Little will be drawing from more than 200 impressions. Exact times and sites were not released.

For more information on USO tours go to www.uso.org.

The sad part is so is his act.

Kudos to Little for his efforts but I'm thinkin' his Gerald Ford impressions might be lost on todays young servicemembers.

Raise your hand if you didn't know he was alive.

Good for you, Rich!

I don't seem to remember Rich Little doing Jerry Ford, Drew. That was more Dan Ackroyd on SNL. And a fine impersonation it was!

Rich did Nixon and George("Pussy-footin' around!) Wallace flawlessly.

Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing his show!

Jack.

The guy I wonder about is David Frye - his "Richard Nixon: A Fantasy" album is still a classic. I liked how Ted Kennedy's only line was "When I returned, Mary Jo and the cah were gone!" and Hubert Humphrey's Ten Greatest Concession Speeches.

I'm happy to hear this. I'm also happy to hear that Rich Little is still alive. Is Irving Frye still alive as well?

Man, Little has to be 1000 years old.

Actually only 66 (or is it 67?), born on November 26,1938.

Hearing his name is a blast from the past however. I love his Johnny Carson.

Here's a link to his Bio on a booking service

Interesting career. I never knew he sometimes does soundtrack redubbings for movies when the real star can't (like Stacey Keach in prison, LOL), or that he's yet another great Cannuck performer.

Anyone remember Vaughn Meeder's Kennedy impressions?

LOL, I doubt it, but according to Shirley MacLaine, you never really know.

I grew up overseas and I don't think I was back while the show was on, or else just never watched it. I know about it of course, mainly 'cuz there was some hot babe on it, but I don't know who "Cooter" was.

I might do a google on him later (if I don't pass out first).

The more sad part is that there are less people around as subjects for impressions. Todays McActors have really nothing to offer mimics.
