FR POST OFFICE (post Christmas cards, greetings, messages to your fellow FReepers here)
12/5/04
Posted on 12/05/2004 7:58:58 AM PST by Liz
All of our longings, our hopes and dreams, are represented by the birth of the innocent babe in the manger, the Christ Child.
The Spirit of Christmas, and our spiritual renewal, was never more powerful than it is today, Christmas season 2004.
Christans are more united than ever, and that's a good thing, for Christians, and for the future of America.
Let's pass around the good cheer, and tap our keyboards as one, wishing one and all a very merry and sacred Christmas, and a prosperous and healthy New Year.

To the Viking Kitties, and the RKBA, and others with whom I am acquainted,
I hope that each of you has a great Christmas vacation, whether you celebrate Christmas or not... the other 95% of us do, so you'll have to suffer through it, sorry. Everyone here loves you anyway. And we know you love that vacation.
I hope that all your clothes fit, and that all your turkeys come out just right. I hope you don't leave the giblet packet in the aforementioned bird. I hope that your Christmas meal is perfect, and that it tastes just as good.
I hope you don't have to return anything on the 26th. I hope that your gifts are quickly wrapped, and that you have enough tape. I hope that you find the perfect present.
I hope that you will have too many friends and too much family. I hope that your tree will live a week or more past Christmas. I hope that taking down the lights will be easy.
I hope that you will have many a story to tell, and many a smile to wear.
But most of all, I hope that each and every one of you has a Merry Christmas, whether you celebrate Christmas or not:
Christmas is going into your pockets and giving money to some guy ringing a bell, when you still have shopping to do.
Christmas is smiling at a stranger, and telling them that you hope they have a good day, without getting paid to do it.
Christmas is searching for hours for one moment of someone else's happiness.
Christmas is looking beyond the fact that your in-laws are weird and annoying, and saying that they're unique and leave an impression.
Christmas is warm blankets and an open fire on a 32 degree day.
Christmas is the closest we'll ever come to world peace.
And Christmas is why I'm at the FR Post Office.
Merry Christmas!

FR is a great place to be because it's here that you'll find the sweetest (and smartest) people. I haven't been FReeping long, but long enough to know that I'm in great company here!
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Right back atcha...
I spent last night baking pies, and my house still smells like roasted vanilla and warm apples. A truly excellent thing to wake up to.

Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all;
Additionally,
a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2004, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regard to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishes.
(Disclaimer: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit.)

Thanks, B. I'll copy that and send it out as my Christmas card this year. We had trouble getting the kids to hold still for a good picture again this year, so I'll just cut 'em out - serves the little critters right!

My Christmas wish for you all is that you will know peace by knowing it's Author! God bless! (And if I forgot to ping anyone, please know it was an accident of my befuddled post-partum brain!)
In The Bleak Midwinter (click the pic for music)
In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan, Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone; Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow, In the bleak midwinter, long ago.
Our God, heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain; Heaven and earth shall flee away when He comes to reign. In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed The Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.
Angels and archangels may have gathered there, Cherubim and seraphim thronged the air; But his mother only, in her maiden bliss, Worshiped the beloved with a kiss.
What can I give Him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb; If I were a wise man, I would do my part; Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.
