Polskie Koledy
It's interesting that none of the songs on the list have anything to do with Christianity, but focus on the other side of the holiday.
Nat King Cole's rendition of the Christmas Song is mesmerizing.
Carol of The Bells........sung during the credits of the Santa Clause movie.
My two favorite liberal Christmas songs:
First, "Do You Hear What I hear?" It contains a perfect summary of liberal welfare philosophy.
"A Child, A Child
Shivers in the cold
Let us bring him silver and gold"
How in the world are silver and gold going to help a child to get warm? Did anybody think of...say...I dunno...A BLANKET, maybe?!? No, let's spend all sorts of money for something that does absolutely nothing to solve the problem at hand.
Second, the perfect summary of liberal thology is in "Here Comes Santa Claus".
"Santa knows we're all God's children
That makes everything right"
Yes, since God made us all, there's no such thing as sin, evil, right, or wrong. Divorce, abortion, homosexuality, materialism...NO PROBLEM. You can't possibly judge someone else's behavior, or identify right and wrong, since we're all God's children, right?
Anybody have other nominees?
What a frickin' joke!!!
#1. I Saw Three Ships, Nat King Cole
#2. Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy, Bing Crosby and David Bowie.
Didn't make the top 25 for a bunch of hacks, I don't even know who they are.
Owl_EagleGuns Before Butter.
1. We Three Kings
2. Silent Night (we always sing it in English and then in German)
3. Adeste Fidelis (Oh Come All Ye Faithful) We sing it in English and Latin
4. Oh Holy Night!
5. Joy to the World
I like "What Child is This" and "Sweet Little Jesus Boy." Also "Noel" and "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear", "O Holy Night." When one thinks of Christmas songs a whole lot of them come to mind. Now most of these will be going through my mind all day. Maybe it will put me in the Christmas spirit to finish my Christmas cardsd.
Just damn.
If you want on the list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...
"My preferences: "O, Holy Night" and . . ."
Ever hear O, Holy Night done by Aaron Neville?

I Choose to Believe
NCC is the greatest choir I've ever heard. I had the great fortune to be at a 4 day conference in Florida back in '92 where they provided all of the music. They filled my heart to overflowing. Mary Abernathy is a choir member who signs the music and I have to tell you, even the hearing hear better when watching this woman feel the music. If you like choir music and you ever have an opportunity to see them, take it. I promise you won't be disappointed.
Last year I downloaded every version of "Sleigh Ride" that I could find and put them all on one CD. Nine versions of the same song and nobody at the Christmas party even notices. I'll get killed for saying this, but my favorite version was by Debbie Gibson. Unngggh
Otherwise, I'm not a huge fan of Christmas Music, but greatly prefer the Christian ones that are honest about the reason for the season.

I like the traditional stuff too but I collect the Christmas tracks of just about every recording artist. Just about every recording artists out there has recorded Christmas songs and while most of it is fluff and filler, there's lots of nuggets out there to be mined. If you seek out some of the tunes above, I think you'll be amazed at some of it.
Friends: this list is about the SONGS, not the performers or any particular performance you like of a given song. This list a) is based on the most performances of a given song, b) it's the SONG, not any particular singer's performance of a song. The most recorded songs of Christmas, not the most popular performance(s) of a given song or artist.
WORST Christmas Song: Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. That song has me thinking un-Christian thoughts to the bozos that wrote it and the Radio Program Directors that play it.
"O Holy Night" will always give me chills. So beautiful.
Of the secular tunes, I agree, "The Christmas Song" is very nice. I even like the insipid "Silver Bells," especially if Bob Hope or Burl Ives is singing.
And as WWII history buff, I have to give mention of honor to the beautiful, bittersweet "I'll Be Home for Christmas" and a shout out to Der Bingel's "White Christmas."
Finally, no Christmas would seem complete without Vince Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" album.
