NPR Reporter Says Christians Should 'Burn' by Terry Phillips, correspondent

Hateful voice mail message to conservative group leads to resignation. A National Public Radio (NPR) reporter has resigned after a hateful voice mail message she left for a conservative group was made public.

Rachel Buchman worked for WHYY in Philadelphia, an NPR affiliate, when she called the offices of the Web site laptoplobbyist.com to express her outrage over an e-mail the group sent to her opposing special rights for homosexuals.

"You're evil, horrible people. You're awful people," she said, identifying herself only as "Rachel." "You represent horrible ideas. God hates you and He wants to kill your children. You should all burn."

Chris Carmouche, publisher of laptoplobbyist.com, said he's accustomed to liberals being offended by his group's moral stands—but added that Buchman's message was over the top.

"We want people to know that this is not an isolated incident," he said. "People have to realize there's not just a media bias, but in many cases there is a media hatred, toward anything conservative, Christian or traditional."

After Carmouche posted a recording of Buchman's message on his Web site, she apologized for "a personal matter that was turned into a public issue."

"Rather than call my journalistic integrity into question," she said. "I decided to resign for personal reasons." Carmouche said it's too late for her professional reputation to be salvaged.

"Conservatives will no longer tolerate the reporting of liberal vitriol as fact," he told The Washington Times. "We will not tolerate the Dan Rathers of the world spoon-feeding the public liberal propaganda. And we will call the 'old media' to account when they make their biases and bigotries obvious and deviate from commonly acceptable standards of journalism."

I was going to post a full body shot, but that would be cruel and unusual punishment.

Why does Rachel's friend have a red dot? Did she pick her up at a garage sale or something?

>We have to realize there's not just a media bias, but in many cases there is media hatred toward anything Conservative, Christian or Traditional<

For over thirty years Americans have been warned this was developing, but did nothing. Is it now too late to reverse this Communistic trend?

I know "Christians" who say NPR is the best source for news. I have argued the point
and argued the point and they just do not get it.

My experience:
A younger (and much smarter) relative used to quote NPR as gospel,
even though he was probably what we'd call a slightly squishy centrist
Republican.

I kept telling him for a couple of years that NPR/PBS had some good aspects
(e.g., some episodes of PBS Frontline), but that was just window-dressing to push
some real leftist propaganda.

I think it was the "massacre" at Jenin that was the "tipping point".
He told me about how NPR ("National Palestinian Radio", in my book)
wailed about IDF atrocities...but then I did get him to see ABC's Nightline
and said..."look at all the camera angles" and I said "this 'Stalingrad' probably didn't
happen over more than a square mile or two.

Then the truth slowly started to trickle out. And scales fell from my
relative's eyes.

My bottom-line? It takes time.
And only expend your time on hopeful cases!

The operative word is typical. The things I've heard liberals say (and do) in my years among them are hateful and chilling. Glad this skank was outed.

From an NPR reporter carrying the water for the party of tolerance and compassion:

"You're evil, horrible people. You're awful people," she said, identifying herself only as "Rachel." "You represent horrible ideas. God hates you and He wants to kill your children. You should all burn."

Not sure why you used quotes on the word "Christians". I'm an evangelical, fundamentalist, conservative Christian who enjoys NPR and uses it as a information source along with Fox, NBC, National Review Online, and FR (among others). Is it their postion that it is the "best source" that causes you to question their faith?

I prefer the Bible's take. It states there that for Christians, ". . . it is better to marry than to burn."

The Rachel Buchmans of the world try to condemn us by putting words into our mouths that we have not said. They accuse us of considering ourselves better than others simply because we have the temerity to profess our faith.

I am a baptized-in-immersion, washed-in-the-blood-of-the Lamb, born-again Christian. I have been so for nearly thirty years. In all those years, I have yet to meet another Christian anywhere who stated, publicly or privately, that he or she considered themselves superior to any other by virtue of their faith. Never have I personally said, implied or intimated to anyone that I am superior to them because of my faith. To the contrary, I consider myself to be the least of my brethren here. Yet this is the charge levied against Christians over and over and over again.

For example, an e-mail message opposing 'gay rights' was enough to cause Ms. Buchman to self-immolate. Mere disagreement with the homosexual agenda is justification enough to be branded with all manner of epithets; homophobe, nazi, etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseum. The example set by the flippant, condescending tone of Ms. Buchman's voice-mail is classic. Then again, I'm not telling you something you don't already know.
