NPR Reporter Says Christians Should 'Burn' by Terry Phillips, correspondent
Hateful voice mail message to conservative group leads to resignation. A National Public Radio (NPR) reporter has resigned after a hateful voice mail message she left for a conservative group was made public.
Rachel Buchman worked for WHYY in Philadelphia, an NPR affiliate, when she called the offices of the Web site laptoplobbyist.com to express her outrage over an e-mail the group sent to her opposing special rights for homosexuals.
"You're evil, horrible people. You're awful people," she said, identifying herself only as "Rachel." "You represent horrible ideas. God hates you and He wants to kill your children. You should all burn."
Chris Carmouche, publisher of laptoplobbyist.com, said he's accustomed to liberals being offended by his group's moral standsbut added that Buchman's message was over the top.
"We want people to know that this is not an isolated incident," he said. "People have to realize there's not just a media bias, but in many cases there is a media hatred, toward anything conservative, Christian or traditional."
After Carmouche posted a recording of Buchman's message on his Web site, she apologized for "a personal matter that was turned into a public issue."
"Rather than call my journalistic integrity into question," she said. "I decided to resign for personal reasons." Carmouche said it's too late for her professional reputation to be salvaged.
"Conservatives will no longer tolerate the reporting of liberal vitriol as fact," he told The Washington Times. "We will not tolerate the Dan Rathers of the world spoon-feeding the public liberal propaganda. And we will call the 'old media' to account when they make their biases and bigotries obvious and deviate from commonly acceptable standards of journalism."

*not surprised*
Only thing burning now is her bra and the bridges she has crossed.
The shift started Nov. 2, and it's still shifting...
"...You should all burn."
Chilling. How many others think like this?
I know "Christians" who say NPR is the best source for news. I have argued the point and argued the point and they just do not get it.
I know Rachels of the world quite well. Their over-the-top hatred somehow go hand in hand with the smug attitude that they are more reasoned and sophisticated.
In reality, they are nothing more than petty zealots.
Good thing. I doubt her so-called journalistic integrity would stand up to close scrutiny.
Another liberal who's sorry she got caught. How sad.
She burnt her bras a long time ago. No more bras for her to wear because I am sure she attended too many bra-burning rally.:-)
Don't worry. She has a seat already waiting for her at the Village Voice.
Brit Hume mentioned this on FoxNews the other night, during his "Grapevine" segment.
Some of the nicest, most amiable people I know are gay.
But when a "Christian" speaks quotes scripture all of the sudden the vitriolic hated comes pouring out automatically trying to defend what they KNOW is purely selfish behavior.
Rachel...Sweety, Honey, Baby...I'm not feeling the love !
I would doubt we could find one reporter at NPR who ever voted for a Republican president. And it burns me that my tax dollars go to this "evil empire" of media.
I hope she learns the ropes in the soup and unemployment lines. I would have to consider her another one of kerri's rabid supporters who got lost in the crack pipe world. My words for her would be, "Your mind is a terrible thing to waste go stomp it out."
Rachel, I forgive you. I pray for your soul. I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to the hatred and malice that envelop you. I pray that you will see how much harm and pain you cause society by forwarding the notion that sexual deviancy is anything other than a severe mental illness that must be treated so that such individuals can join society again. I pray that you realize that you are supporting the agenda of a cult of death wherer the life expectancy is only 40 years before the succomb to an unatural and avoidable ailment.
I pray that when you open your eyes, you will see that most empirical data supports that such lifestyles are not only against all natural principles of design of the human body but that no matter whether you believe in God, Gaea or Darwin, you cannot simply deny years of design and evolution by simply gazing dreamily down at the evidence that God has lain before you and say "That's not what they meant".
You'll realize all this some day. We hope it's sooner than later, for the sake of your eternal soul.
How's that?!? The really hard part on her is that I mean it.
