THE WASHINGTON TIMES
When House Republicans blocked the intelligence overhaul bill two weeks ago, some congressional Republicans say they were showing President Bush he will split the party if he goes ahead with his broader immigration-reform plan.
"It would cause a break in the party that would be extremely unhealthy for the party," said Rep. Tom Tancredo, Colorado Republican and chairman of the Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus. "I can tell you right now, the feelings are deep. This is not a superficial argument with the president.
"We were all willing to shut up during the campaign. We were not going to attack the president. But the campaign is over with and the gloves are off on this issue," Mr. Tancredo said.
He echoed the sentiments of several Republicans who emerged from a House Republican Conference discussion Nov. 20 on the intelligence bill, which they insist include strict national standards to ensure illegal aliens don't acquire driver's licenses.

Oh boy, now it is time for them to resort to name calling and personal attacks. Makes me feel like I'm on DU.
The major philisophical difference that seperates Buchananites from the majority of Bush voters is not immigration OR fiscal policy, but foreign policy. (Buchananites are almost exclusively in the isolationist camp). That's where they distingush themselves. ....especially with their rabid (and irrational) anti-Israel stance.
Republicans need to handle immigration and the illegal alien problem better.
The vast majority of America wants illegal aliens handled and our borders more secure.
That is I believe the feelings of over 70% of America and watch Hillary grab the issue if Republicans and Bush won't.
Yes, NAFTA + FTAA is going to be the mother of all money pits for America if ever enacted. This, at a time when SS/Medicare/Medicaid are going bankrupt and our current budget deficit, which does not include these programs, is in the red to the tune of $450 billion on top of a $7 trillion (and rising) national debt. It's pure insanity.
The situation here in Cochise County, Arizona is approaching critical mass. At the moment, about 25% of the illegal fence jumpers are coming through this one small county and people are getting seriously pissed off.
A lot of the illegals coming through now have a serious attitude problem -- a mixture of arrogance and aggressiveness. They will show up on your doorstep demanding food, water, use of your telephone, and rides. Some day soon, somebody's sweet little grey-haired granny is gonna put a .44 magnum hole through some strutting pendejo's chest. (Half of those in my last concealed weapon permit renewal class were little old ladies, and none of them were packing ladies' guns; they all qualified with no problem.)
The same attitude problem is apparent when the illegals meet up with the Border Patrol. I spent election night watching the bush apes snag a big group right next to my house. One idiot popped badass with one of the female agents and I think he now has two new tonsils.
(Semi-related issue: How does the Border Patrol get so many more hotties in their ranks compared to other government agencies?)
Tomorrow I'll check it out again.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Insanity? No. Just politicians who know what side their bread is buttered on. Both political parties are in bed with big business--and one of them also has AFL-CIO on its side, which is just starving for more union workers (proving that neither organization ever really cared about labor).
James George Jatras once wrote, "It is hardly a surprise that businessmen who would sell their grandmothers to Abu Abulbul Amir for oil drilling rights see the world as a reflection of the bottom line." That's a worldview that sounds scarily close to Marxism--and yetour government officials promote it in the guise of "free enterprise." Of course, in the end, even they won't be able to buy their way out of the trouble. Just imagine the shock on their faces ten years from now when their vast corporate empires collapse in the midst of a civil war and they learn the hard lesson that multiculturalism doesn't work.

You know, I can see lynchings making a comeback very soon if something is not done immediately.
Illegal aliens are just that... "illegal" they should not ever be rewarded in any way for their crime. They should be rounded up and deported.
Im sick to death of hearing their sob stories.
So how do we get the Presidents attention????
How do we get him to see that he is heading in the wrong direction....?
Does anyone have an "in" with the President?
Can someone get through to Him???
We don't.
Just pretend like nothing's going on. Tend to your family, your parish church, and your house. Buy an assault rifle and several boxes of ammunition. When it comes time to fight, give it all you've got.
That will never happen. If OUR government does not have the will or inclination to do the right thing now...i.e. effective border control, rigorous enforcement of our immigration laws, it won't have the will or inclination to do so after an amnesty. As others have mentioned, our government made similar promises to sell the 1986 amnesty to a skeptical public and looked what happened. Sorry, our so-called leaders have no credibility on this score whatsoever.
And when the government tells us that it will start getting tough on illegal immigration after an amnesty program is enacted that is tantamount to extortion. The message is: If you dont give us what we want, we are going to continue to leave America open to this invasion and do nothing about it. Would you trust such a government and their promises? What we really have in this country is an out of control tyrannical government.
They should have been applying the law and constitution as pertaining to "invasions" for decades now. That our government won't protect America from an Invasion tells you everything you need to know about its leaders. And no, they don't keep their promises. If Bush gets his way there will be a lot of back slapping laughter in the WH and halls of Congress on how they suckered the people again. No More.
Oh really? It's all the damn religionists fault, eh? No blame for the "moderates" and the pro-aborts?
W. needs to be brought to heel right quick.
If Bush legitimatizes 15-20 millions of illegal Third World aliens, he may as well will be the last Republican president.
We're slipping and sliding into Third Worldism, folks. Prepare for the worst.
Yep.
By that standard why not open our borders to the world? Let everyone come in. Why be so partial to the Mexicans? There are billions of people around the globe that yearn for freedom. Does being nation of immigrants mean that America should not control immigration even if most Americans want such controls?
