I'm gonna have a really huge stack of National Geographics by that time. And the Mariners still won't have won a pennant.

This pure bullsh*t. I remember when we were gonna get flying cars. Our cities would be electrified by nuclear power and/or fussion. We would get tv telephones etc. etc.. All this at the 1964 NY world's Fair. Made for great copy but it was still bullsh*t.

Rule of thumb, live everyday as if it's your last one.

They ought to get a comment from Cartephilus and see what he thinks about living for thousands of years.

Humans living to be a 1000 years old? I don't think that will ever happen. I think Dr.de Grey has been reading too many comicbooks.

The right to choose to live or to die is the most fundamental right there is; conversely, the duty to give others that opportunity to the best of our ability is the most fundamental duty there is.

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that these people are in favor of abortion. Liberal selfishness knows no bounds... the right to life is about THEIR lives.

Based on the fact the ancient people lived very long, (biblical) I see no reason why we can't extend life for many years, mid 100's or even more.

A 1,000 year life span? That seems like a stretch.

If eternal life is the goal then there's a way to obtain it in a much shorter time frame:

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

To me, the choice here is obvious. If an "immortality" serum or treatment ever becomes available... and I have no doubt that it will, sooner or later... then it should be made available to any and all who want it.

But make it available *only* on a space station.

And once you get it, you can *never* return to Earth.

On pain of death.

This way, Earth will avoid the unutterable hell that would inevitably follow if some people were immortal and the most weren't... AND it would spur space colonization.

Some already have.

200 Kerry campaigns? 4700 O'Reilly shows? 4800 programs on Scott Peterson's trial and sentencing? 1000 years of Al Franken?

Forget it, who would want to live 1000 years?

I think the first person to live to 1,000 might be 60 already.

It was nonsense before this line, but at that line, I just stopped reading.

Not interested. There's going to come a time, many years from now, where I'll want to go on to 'greater adventures' so to speak.
