I live in Louisa County and slept right through it - darn!
To: Squantos
Squantos, did you get early warning of this earthquake on the other side of the country? That dizzy hypnotic thing either set this 2.2 quake off, or was a predictor. Course it could have been that happy lil puppy.

"This one in Va could be a preview of coming attractions."
2's and 3's are not uncommon on the east coast and pass unnoticed by everyone who isn't hooked up to a siesmigraph.

The Central Virginia Seismic Zone is not near, and has nothing to do with, the New Madrid Seismic Zone.

In other news, my dog ripped one, and the hausfrau cleaned out the fridge. "No way that puppy made that ... smell."

Hey all you earth quake buffs, might want to do some research into plate-techtonics for the future. The Mississippi River, just like the Nile Riverin Africa, is possibly another plate in the making.
Don't let the greenies ever hear anything about this, look what happened about a joke about the sun heating the planet in the future. Now they have everything in the world shut down for "global warming". Should have everything in the world going full bore to take advantage of this "warm" time in history.

I guess you didn't bother to look at the first site I listed. Seems those dummies disagree with you.

I was in Memphis in 1991 or so and felt a pretty good earthquake....being from CA I knew exactly what it was.
To: ChefKeith
Yep 2.2 is sort of a hiccup for the big faults in California.
Happy to report that I don't have to worry about them anymore!!

These things happen faster than you would think. It appears from recent research that the earth's inner core is a fast breeder fission reactor. It runs mostly on U235, but breeds Pu239 from U238. Periodically the reaction will shift to primarily Pu239 which is much more energetic. So things start moving about much more rapidly than we have experienced.
