Caught him on the Daily Show the other night, and I thought he was hilarious and smart. Didn't get a whiff of which way he leans, though.
Anyway, I don't care if someone is a dittohead or a lefty liberal as long as they give me good, unbiased news, with multiple viewpoints. Unfortunately, it seems like even that is too much to ask for in today's media world...
Rush was holding Williams in high regard yesterday on his radio show, even telling of meetings they had when Williams was still working at the CBS flaghsip station WCBS Channel 2 in New York. Rush said that Williams is a "hell of a funny guy", and has very deep opinions on alot of subjects. Rush said he's still maintained great friendships with Russert, Brokaw, and Williams over the years.
I doubt that Williams is a conservative, but I don't doubt that he listens to Rush. He has called in and spoken with Rush at least once - I recall hearing him call in around 3 years ago.
"Describing a somewhat hostile encounter between himself and Couric some years back, Limbaugh told his audience on Tuesday, 'There's still some tension there.'"
Limbaugh excretes things more intelligent than Katie "Gums" Curic.
Did Brian Williams ever 'sit-in' for Rush on his radio show? (Chris Matthews did once)
I heard him call Rush during Rush's Fifteenth Anniversary Show.
I'm sure a substantial amount of the Leftist media listens to Rush, and he knows this.
That's why he calls his show "show prep" for the rest of the Media.
Fox has demonstrated what needs to be done to become #1. Maybe NBC has learned some lessons.
I heard him on Leno one night, talking about talking his kids to Disney World and he got dissed by Micky Mouse; it was HILARIOUSLY funny.
You can usually tell who doesn't listen to him. They're the ones who get Rush's comments completely out of context or flat out wrong.
Sigh...yes, too much to ask.....
I guess I'm a cynic, but I think Williams is lobbying for the anchor job. I think he's trying to come across as appealing to conservatives as well as liberals in the hope of selling his superiors on the fact that he could appeal to a wider audience and hence achieve higher ratings.
Sorry, the timing is way too suspect. I ain't buyin'. Why is this just now coming out?

I saw Brian Williams on David Letterman when Williams was still a White House correspondent. I was splitting my sides with laughter through the whole interview.
They have their fingers in the wind.
Was that when it was? Did he talk about Micky Mouse?
