I don't think folks would be as angry about this if the bus driver had recieved a reprimand or a warning. The punishment was way out of proportion to the offense stated by her employer.
Look at all the people on FR who can no longer utter a peep the next time a liberal says something stupid at school. Thanks a lot for silencing yourselves. Some of us are actually trying to FIX the problem, rather than extend it. But that doesn't matter to you, just as long as we can be equally annoying.
The Decision will be based on the First Amd. and the Court will not provide a list of what issues a bus driver can talk about and what they cannot.
So, why don't we make things easy and not have to bus drivers of the country discuss their personal beliefs.
That people can even conceive of selfishly destroying those eggs, to steal their cells for their own use, breaks my heart more than I can put into words!

Well, obviously a good deal of the uproar is a result of the children's ages. If those kids were 16, 17 year olds in high school, we wouldn't be having this discussion. A school bus is not an appropriate setting for a roundtable discussion in any case, but I think this wouldn't have been such a big deal if she had been a bit wiser and not chosen such an impressionable audience.

Wrong. She was NOT teaching, espousing, or otherwise promoting "moral values" or even an opinion. She made a statement of FACT. If you want to make the argument that a bus driver shouldn't talk to the kids about anything but the weather, then do that, but don't make strawman arguments and misrepresent the facts of the incident.
I'll tell you MHO about the parents who objected. They disregarded the facts; they heard "Mel Gibson" and a statement unsupportive of stem stell research, and all they thought was that a 'knuckle-dragging-right-wing-conservative-Christian-red-state-hatemonger is poisoning my kid's mind'.
