Lovely idea, but where do I get a lump of coal???
To: Stoat
I was thinking how great it would be if there was a small town that was forbidden from having a Nativity scene by the ACLU or some other useless organization and the citizens revolted. The revolt would be in the form of HUNDREDS of houses with outdoor Nativity Scenes accented by very bright lights.

I am hereby launching the Lump of Coal campaign. Later today, I will box up a lump of charcoal, mark the package "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" and send it to the Denver Mayor in protest of his idiotic policy. Please join me in doing the same (and if you take a photo of your creatively designed package, I will link/post). Awesome. Looks like I'm in for a fun project this weekend! Woohoo!

Political Correctness run amok. I was offended to have to sit through a "winter carnival" in Phoenix 6 years ago, and every song was watered down so as not to offend the secularists.

I don't understand why (PC) Americans have such a problem with the words "Merry Christmas."
In Singapore, which is not a "Christian" nation per se, they decorate the streets in bright lights and gaudy fake snow at Christmas time, and no one, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu or atheist, has a problem with it.
If I happen to say "Merry Christmas" to a friend who is Buddhist, he doesn't get all bent out of shape about it. Why should he? He knows it's just a friendly greeting, and no offense is meant or taken.
Of course, Singaporeans say "Happy Chinese New Year" and "Happy Ramadan," and "Happy Deepavali" (it's a Hindu holiday) on the appropriate days as well. Each celebrates his own holidays and lets others celebrate theirs.

I have a list of all the phone numbers for all the elected officials in Denver Colorado. What I suggest we all do is call the numbers next to everyones names and hold the telephone up to the speakers of the cdplayer and play christmas carols into the phone.Mannhiem steamroller would be a great choice becasue im sure all these people know that they are rush limbaughs favorite christmas band :-) This plan would be great for after hours also when you knowthe voicemail will pick up so they will haveto wade throug dozens of christmas carols to get to thier real voiceemails :-D Elected Officials

...a church group who wants to march in the Parade of Lights and sing Christmas carols will not be allowed to participate in the parade. ...no overtly religious symbols is allowed in the parade
I hate to sound like a liberal and say "sue them," but in this battle a good lawyer might be an effective tool. It sounds like groups are being excluded from a public forum just because they are of a religious nature. I think our side has been been winning most cases like that recently.
The exception might be if the parade is organized by a private group, which could mean they could determine what they want the message to be. Then our alternatives would be do protest their parade and/or organize our own.
The mayor does still need as many lumps of coal as possible.

The churches in the area should organize a little peaceful civil disobedience. At the end of the parade, hundreds of people could "spontaneously" walk the parade route singing Christmas carols.
Never happen. It's our own fault we've let the secularists win these issues. We're not fighting back, just taking it.

Organizers say the parade is about the holidays, not ChristmasROFLOL! Apparently this Denver nitwit is unaware of the origins of the word "holiday." Ooops! Guess they'll change that, too. Happy Holidays! Winter Festival!

Excellent! I hope the liberal Democrat mayor is buried in charcoal by Christmas time. I'm sticking a few pieces in a jet pak and mailing it today, Michelle, since I don't want to invest more than that for this clueless Jesus-hater.
What Christians need to do in every one of these cities is organize a CHRISTIAN CHRISTMAS PARADE with every conservative church in the city involved and make it 100 times better than anything the pagans produce in honor of winter.
