WASHINGTON — The son of U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan used his father's worldwide connections to wheel and deal with heads of state — at U.N. gatherings — on behalf of a controversial Swiss company that won a lucrative oil-for-food program contract, The Post has learned.The intense lobbying by Annan's 29-year old son, Kojo, was disclosed in a raft of internal company documents — including Kojo Annan's expense reports — that the company recently turned over to congressional committees under a subpoena.
The memos provide the most revealing look to date at the business conflicts that are now at center stage of history's biggest financial scandal. They also place the younger Annan and his father far closer to each other than the U.N. has previously disclosed.
According to records reviewed by The Post, Kojo Annan, while working for the Cotecna firm, enjoyed extraordinary access to U.N. diplomats and other international dignitaries because of his father's position.
Kofi Annan had claimed earlier this week that he did not know the full extent of his son's dealings with Cotecna.
But the documents indicate that the son of the U.N. secretary-general was clearly trading on his father's name to win business for Cotecna, where he worked from 1995 to 1998.

In New York in September 1998, Kojo Annan also held a series of meetings with heads of state and government ministers — primarily from Africa — to drum up business for Cotecna Inspection Services SA during the opening session of the U.N. General Assembly.

Kojo Annan's activities caught the U.N. off guard last night. "We are unaware of this. This is the first we are hearing of it," a spokesman said.

Not only that, it was reported this AM on Fox that Cotecna was not performing it's job in Iraq; i.e allowing lots of uninspected cargo to cross into the country, containing who-knows-what. Who might have profited from this, hmmmmmmm?

My goodness, he certainly does seem to be camera shy!
I couldn't find one either.
There is at least one in existence, FNC showed one maybe on Friday, a still photo of him at some fancy function, standing with some beautiful young women.
But that's it.
By the way, this doesn't seem to be the first scandal the younger Annan has been involved in.
An interesting article from 2000 came up on google. It seems as if he's had some practice at this. He was just a young lad of 26 at the time of the earlier misunderstanding, "what Zimbabwe's opposition alleges is the country's most notorious act of cronyism".

Lagos (This Day, May 8, 2000) - Kojo Annan sounded tetchy. "I want to make
it very clear, to avoid speculation about my father," he said. "When Air
Harbour was awarded airport contract I was not on its board of directors."
The defensiveness of the son of United Nations secretary-general, Kofi Annan
was understandable. Sunday Business has learnt he is a director of the
offshore company that benefited from what Zimbabwe's opposition alleges is
the country's most notorious act of cronyism.
It is a bizarre tale involving a wayward nephew of president Robert Mugabe,
the son of a former Saudi oil minister, as well as the son of the UN chief.
It is set against the backdrop of a Pounds75 million contract to redevelop
Harare International Airport, the little-known Isle of Man-registered
company that won it, and Mugabe's new mansion.

Young Annan has a bit of a history.
On Monday morning Fox and Friends in the 8 AM hour, E.D. showed what looked like the front page of the NY Post with Kojo, but when I went to the NY Post web page later in the morning it was a totally different front page.
Is he in the federal witness protection program maybe?
Yes, I saw that photo on Fox from the NY Post, and then tried to find it online. As you found out, no luck.
I suppose if a library in your area gets that paper, you could xerox it.
But it's the same photo that I mentioned earlier, of him standing by some beautiful girls, only the girls were cropped out of the Post image.
He or his father must have been working on making sure no photos of him are found in any news source. That's all I can guess.
Great suggestion about the library. I am at a large university that subscribes to almost all periodicals, (even from that so-called meanspirited Murdoch guy (who I used to work for in a happy and profitable relationship!)).
If I find the photo I'll copy, scan and post it.
