A man has died after he was dragged by his girlfriend's car along the East Freeway, severing his arm, police said.
Dewey Whitehead, 43, who had a post office mailing address in Buna, suffered multiple injuries and died at Ben Taub Hospital, investigators said.
Whitehead was in the passenger seat of a car driven by his 24-year-old girlfriend, whose name was not released. She stopped the car in the 9900 block of the East Freeway near the 610 Loop around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, and Whitehead walked to the driver's side door, investigators said.
Whitehead's arm somehow became trapped in the car's door, but police did not explain how this happened. The girlfriend accelerated, dragging Whitehead and severing his arm.
The girlfriend was taken into custody for questioning. The investigation is continuing as police continue gathering witness statements.
To some older men, those are desirable traits.
Man. What a way to go. It'll be interesting to hear the details of this story when it comes out.
Meanwhile, my first thought was of these two auto-related murders:
AP 2-7-2003
Chante Mallard
how could she kill a man who was clearly unarmed?
Yeah...I don't get it, Big Dan. What's it all about?!?
At this point in my life,
(as a geezerette) I have learned it is better to have a poor (honest, stable, responsible) man than a rich, self-absorbed a@@hat.
:) now all I need to do is download all this wisdom into my Jessica Simpson clone.
Drugs is my best bet. I seen it too many times before.
I vaguely remember the Clara Harris one--is that where she ran over her husband in a parking lot while seeing him with his mistress?
The Mallard case. Is that the lady who ran over the guy as she came home from a party or a bar, then went parked the car in her garage with him still alive and sticking out of the car?
Hey, whatever works... ;-)
Old joke:
An old man is about to marry a young woman, and one of his friends is concerned. The friend takes him aside and says, "John, have you thought this through? These May-December marriages don't often work. It's true that December finds in May the freshness and promise of Spring, but... what does May have to enjoy in December?"John winks and replies, "Christmas!"
Like I told one guy age when he grossed about the 'baggage' older women have.
"You want a 18 year old virgin so their will be room in the relationship for your steamer trunks of issues." ;)
When the extremity was severed, did it flop back into the passenger seat? That must have been the clue to stop and see what the problem was.
When arms are banned only outlaws will have arms...oh, wait a minute.
Yep, He begged for a day or two, but she just ignored him.
....yea, it sounds like the car was posessed and without a driver...if you read the headlines literally.
Me and my baby headin down the road we made a quick stop so I could dump my load when I got back my arm was in the door then she pushed the pedal clean to the floor the car lurched forward, now we wont wed cause now she wont marry me, a one-armed dead... and so on and so on....
Have to disagree with you on that. When I was in my 20's and without a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of I ran through at least 200 women and some were wealthy. My first car was a gift from a female teacher when I was in the 10th grade.
No Cellulite, fat or stretch marks.
Plus they're more easily amused and impressed.
I'm kidding (mostly), but I think that the main reason is that older women tend to be more cynical and "serious", compared to younger women who are more interested in having fun, and less "jaded".
u must have some skillz.
It would be my guess that when the car hit the truck, the arm that was through the drivers side window would end up on the dashboard.
Colonel Mustard.
