Scholars have urged African nations not to be pressurized by the American-led war on terror and press anti-terrorist legislation.
Scholars attending the international conference on "African conflict Management" and related issues here in the capital said that African governments have been put under enormous pressure to press anti-terrorist legislation.
Professor Ali A. Mazrui, a well known afro American intellectual stated that some African countries have already yielded to the American pressure.
"Some countries have already capitulated to American pressure, often compromising the civil liberties of their Muslim fellow citizens and reversing some of the gains in democratization which had been achieved before September 11, 2001,"
Mazrui, who is currently Director of Institute of Global Culture studies based in New York, also indicated that the American-led war on terror shows no signs of relenting.
"A whole new kind of terrorism is at large and that is the new international terrorism and the American-led war against it. Africa is being a theatre stage of this kind of war fare, but the main actors are not Africans," he added.
Ethiopian president, Girma Woldegiorgis on his part told the gathering that international partnership in addressing the root causes as well as management of conflicts in Africa need to be further strengthened with the requisite determination and seriousness of the purpose.
"Economic co-operation is fundamental since conflicts are more than often not rooted in economic difficulties and the hopelessness that results from this reality. Secondly co-operation in enhancing Africa's capacity for managing conflicts is also crucial," he added.
The international conference, Organized by the Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa (OSSREA) is expected to pass Various recommendations to help better solve African conflicts.
Over 15 study papers are expected to be presented for discussion in the three day conference.
'Africa Should Not to Be Pressurized By U.S. On Terrorism'

I am possessed of the belief that his professicating may be unstandard and relationally a bit disconstruing in its grammatification and intelligencity.
Whut?
BUMP!
Oh, most certainly economics is the root cause of terrorism--look at all those poor Saudis that flew planes into our buildings. They were so destitute, what else could they do?

WOW! They're going to bomb the terrorists with study papers. I imagine that will be most effective.
The four greatest Arab leaders of resistance in the twentieth century were Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt who died in 1970, Hafiz Assad of Syria who died in 2000, Saddam Hussein of Iraq, and Yasir Arafat of Palestine. These were not necessarily the greatest Arabs in every sense. They were the greatest leaders in the Arab resistance to Western imperialism and to Zionism.

They're feeling kinda pumped up against America, aren't they?
What can you expect of people who have transitioned from worshipping gods of sticks and mud to grovelling before the arab moon god?
Britishism, so the word he wants is pressuriSed.
I know that that's the correct spelling in the faulty British variant of our language, but still, I believe the word he is looking for is simply "pressured."
If moo mazrui were run over by a bus today, I'd throw a small party tonight...
This article must have originated from The Onion.
They're feeling kinda pumped up against America, aren't they?
Yes, except when they want the good old USA to bail them out of their self-inflicted AIDS crisis.
So the Muslims are speaking for all of Africa, now?
Does this guy actually live in New York?
He could use a good FReeping.
Ha ha ha ha ha... too funny.
On a more serious note... I'm sure an op-ed directed toward Africa -- the continent that, after Asia, has been more brutalized by Islam than any other (so far) -- by someone from the terrorist Gulf States isn't intended to "pressurize" anyone.
'r somethin'. Deportation comes to mind. Piles of lawsuits on behalf of the victims of Arab Moslem terrorism. Getting him fired from his "job". Closing the doors of the place where he "works".
His Englishating is better than my Arabicating.
On the other hand, the U.S. is pressured to resolve all Africa's other problems.
