I think Bush may have referred to this moment during his press conference. He spoke about how friendly the crowd was on the way in from the airport, at least the ones that waved with all five fingers.

Canada, at one time, was called the Dominion of Canada, upper and lower dominions of Canada, and the western provinces were the 'territories'. The oldest western province is Manitoba, with the remaining territories split into Alberta and Saskatchewan sometime later. After that, confederation came. Free Dominion means to be free from confederation, which is freedom from elitist liberals who think Western Canada, the province's, are simply subjects to be ruled by Liberals who think they are royalty.

The tread. Normally, the tread wraps around to the sidewall abot 2-3 inches, these tires show the tread riding only on top of the centre belt. If they were to wrap the tread like a conventional tire, it would separate from flexing. Those are multi-compound tires, the centre belt under the tread is heavy thick steel weave, which also makes the tread stick out higher in the centre.

Hey folks, I took that pic this morning and want to thank Free Dominion and all it's members. I am from Atlanta and came to Ottawa for the Bush visit. I was feeling pretty lonely here with all the hate around me. I found the FD website Sunday afternoon and decided to attend their rally to see real live Canadian conservatives. I had a great time, I met many great people and I had a chance to see the Presidednt happy and genuinely surprised at the reception. It was our group he referenced with the five fingered wave comment. Thanks again Free Dominion. I also sent the photo to the Ottawa Citizen newspaper, do you think they will have the guts to print it?

Hi theDBA,

Thank you?
No, Thank you, eh?

I've seen lots of "thank you" posts from Americans here on FR and on FD as well. I didn't drive 5+ hours each way, then stand around for some more hours in the cold to be thanked. I did it because I wanted to.

I did it because I wanted to take my kid brother out to see the leader of the free world. It made an impression.

I did it because I don't want those smarmy commie bastards downtown to get all the attention -- they make us look so cheap. So small. I don't want Americans to think of them when they think of Canada.

I did it because I wanted to meet some of my fellow FD patrons in person.

I did it because I like and respect George W. Bush. He is a visitor. A guest. It would embarass me if he was not warmly welcomed. I want him and all Americans to feel as welcome here as I have always felt on my many visits to the United States.

Most of all I did it because I want to say thank you. Thank you to George Bush. Thank you to all Americans. Thank you for being there. Thank you for covering our backs. Thank you for providing a beacon of radiant light to cut through the Socialist darkness. We need you. The world needs you.

When the President's motorcade passed by, they slowed down, and we all got a good look. I saw a man who is comfortable in his own skin. I saw a warm and genuine smile. A surprised smile. The smile of a good man who is accustomed to people waving with less than five-fingers out, yet remains a good man all the same. I saw an American. It was an honour and a privilege to be there.
