Greens at it again: Recounts filed in Nevada and New Mexico
Cobb ^

Posted on 11/29/2004 2:35:59 PM PST by Next_Time_NJ

With your help, we are standing up for the right to vote, and the right for votes to be counted. David Cobb of the Green Party and Michael Badnarik of the Libertarian Party have filed for a recount of the presidential ballots cast in Ohio, New Mexico, and Nevada, and have filed a lawsuit in Ohio to make sure there is sufficient time to recount every ballot. The initial Ohio recount filing fees and expenses were paid with the help of thousands of small donations from all over the country. We appreciate your support of the recount, and of a more open and accountable vote-counting process.

I didn't mean that you brought any sexual assault upon yourself and I should have been clearer about that.

However, I do manage to live in a *really* big city -- one which happens to be quite leftist -- and be somewhat active in local, "grassroots" politics without my safety being compromised. I've even been quoted in the NY Post and never suffered any harm for it.

It does seem obvious that you may have problems that go beyond just speaking out and standing up for what you believe in. I mean, given all the anarchists and other hyped-up and drugged-up leftists who converged on NYC during the GOP convention, there were no pipebombs here. Other than a few comparatively minor incidents of protestors pushing some delegates, the only people who were really in any danger were those who purposely put themselves there -- trying to infiltrate and then confront large gatherings of angry leftists. Even most of those who were actively looking for trouble didn't get it here.

First, thanks for clarifying. I didn't really believe you saw it that way when you posted.

Second, as far as the pipe bomb, I really can't say for sure that it was because I was working on those campaigns or whether it was a random event. I really will never know cause they never did figure out who they were. Didn't stop me then, won't stop me now. I definitely don't go around asking for trouble though... I'm usually very articulate, well studied, and I try my best not to incite things.

I think both of us have taken this discussion a little personally - I know I started to at least. And, we did kind of hijack the thread from its original purpose - discussing the recounts in Ohio.

So, I guess what I'm saying is let's agree to disagree about the Patriot Act stuff for the sake of ending this particular discussion on a positive note. I think both of us are pretty firm in our views and beliefs here and the only thing we're going to accomplish going back and forth about this subject is making each other angry. That's not what I'd like to do with my time. (o:

Sincerely, LibertyRocks
